The restaurant was originally opened in 1992 and derives its name from the foundation stone of which the year it was built.

Owners Christian and Melissa Fletcher are producing modern Australian cuisine which is prepared from seasonal and local produce. The extensive wine list specializes in local wines with many back vintages. Eat in the tranquil cottage style garden setting under shady trees and market umbrellas during the warmer months and around the cozy open log fires in winter.

"Not a huge menu but wonderful food - not large serves so two courses a must for bigger eaters which can make it an expensive night. Service is great but it can be a little noisy with the wooden floors."

Not nearly as good as several years ago! - Seems not to know what image it wants to take. It's a beautiful building but has been turned into a tacky cafe-style decor   (July, 2008)

Excellent food! Just as good as my previous visit. Service was also great; fast & friendly, particularly given that it was very busy. Ambience was also pretty good too, in spite of this. I'd happily go back again.   (1918 Tanunda - great dining! - See my reviews (2) - May, 2008)

Excellent food! Really delicious, just as good as my last visit. Service was nice & fast, & although our waitress was a little inexperienced with wines, she & the others were very responsive to ensuring our questions were answered & our needs met. Ambience was pretty good, given how busy it was. Would happily go back again!   (1918 Tanunda - great dining! - See my reviews (2) - May, 2008)

We were very impressed with the menu and service especially the time it took for the food to come out considering the number of customers present. The deserts were special and completed our dining experience. We shall be recommending your restaurant to our friends.   (April, 2008)
