Very disappointing. We had our small wedding dinner of 17 people at Aria on 7th Feb 10. For a restaurant with such a high reputation only a few of our guests were happy with the overall experience. The same mains were ordered, to be cooked the same way, by 5 people at one table and all came out from blood red to over cooked and dry, red wine was opened and only given to two people at one table and not offered to the bride & groom or anyone else on the other table, single glasses of sparkling had to be requested several times before they were served yet there were many staff on the floor who were not very interested. Desserts- some ok, most very bland and ordinary. These were only some of many disappointments. For the staggering amount it cost we should have all come away happy. An occasion such as this is a life time memory, for us it is not a good one. (Aria Restaurant - February, 2010) Overall 7.5 - Food 4, Ambience 10, Value 6, Service 10
Aria is all class when it comes to the service, the wine and the position but the food for us was quite average. This is the 3rd time i've been to Aria and we were really looking to it but we were very disappointed with the food - presentation was amazing but the taste was very bland. My husband had the duck consomme which was salty and not a lot of flavour, then he had the jewfish which again looked great but the taste was only average. I had the scampi entree which was delicious and ravioli for main which was very average also. We paid $54 & $44 for the mains which I'm happy to pay if the food's great, unfortunately for us it wasn't. (Sarah&Daniel - September, 2009) Overall 7 - Food 6, Ambience 10, Value 4, Service 8
We went to Aria for a birthday dinner for 2 recently and had the degustastion menu. VERY slow food service and I commented to our wine waitress as we were concerned we would finish our wine before the 3rd course arrived! There are 7 courses in all plus appetiser but they are tasting plates only, not full size servings and we had to ask for more bread because the service was so slow which was a little embarrassing considering the hype of the restaurant. Only 3 dishes stood out from the menu for both of us. We are relatively sophisticated diners who eat out often, service was good and its a beautiful looking restaurant however there are other restaurants just as worthy of the reputation for good food, wine, service and ambience.. if not more so than Aria I'm afraid. We wont be back in a hurry. (Melisa- June 2009) (Melisa - June, 2009) Overall 9.5 - Food 9, Ambience 10, Value 9, Service 10
Fantastic! We didn't find it hugely expensive $68 feach or 2 courses pre show plus wine. The service was out of this world. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the pork belly entree - so much so he couldn't finish his main. We'll be back! (February, 2009) Overall 2.5 - Food 1, Ambience 2, Value 1, Service 6
Massive rip off. $650 for the valentine's day degustation dinner for 2. Each serving was no more than a single mouthful. Flavours were ordinary. Wine was ok, but I do beleive we have similar if not better in our own cellar. One couple left early, another guy was embarressed to have brought his partner and mother and said he would never return. We had to order a serve a wedges upon return to our hotel to satisfy our hunger. Perhaps we had more money than cents to have hoped for better. We wont be back. Outstanding!! Had the degustation with accompanying wine. Food and wine were matched well. All courses were very very good, particularly the scampi, and peking duck consommé. Would definately go back (Infectious - See my reviews (5) - February, 2009) Overall 5.8 - Food 7, Ambience 7, Value 4, Service 5
Didn't expect to have my main course served up cold;then they brought the same food back microwaved and dried up by which time my husband had finished his excellent main course. This spoilt the whole experience. Wine was expensive but sommelier srvice excellent. Other service particularlymaitre'd was verry cool and unfriendly. (poor value and service - January, 2009) Overall 8 - Food 8, Ambience 9, Value 6, Service 9
Service was excellent. Food was tasty and well presented. I did however find my steak tough and sinewy despite being cooked to perfection. The serving sizes were simply too small for the cost. Would certainly eat there again but only if someone else was paying. (Andrew - November, 2008) Overall 10 - Food 10, Ambience 10, Value 10, Service 10
What can I say? No wonder this is voted the best place year after year. Matt Moran is a genius. Great food, impeccable service and amazing views. The prices are expensive but if you want to spoil yourself save up and enjoy it, even if it is just once in your life. (fussy - See my reviews (33) - November, 2008) Overall 7 - Food 7, Ambience 6, Value 6, Service 9
We were sat at the back of the restaurant with little view even though there were 4 other tables with people at them. Service was really good- wait staff very friendly and knew the menu well. Food was delicious- Duck Consume could have had more wontons in it and the Venison could have come with side vegetables. |
