We had a table reserved for 8pm on a Friday night recently. We were called a couple of hours before to check we were still coming. We arrived at 8.05 to find the doors locked. When we rang to find out what was going on we were told bookings are only held for 10 minutes. It was a very special weekend away, and that got us off to a very disappointing start. Anyway, had lovely Thai in Dromana!   (Kylie - April, 2011)

I am writing this review to express my dissatisfaction and disappointment with what I came across during lunch time last Sunday, November the 7th.

I booked a table at Arthur's hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday as a surprise because it had been very well recommended by a couple of friends of ours who have been there a few years ago.

The reserved table was perfect, number one, on the corner, with the best view in the house. The waitresses were also very friendly and helpful.

As an entreé we ordered the stuffed mushrooms. The four units that came on the plate were already cold and the (once) melted cheese on top tasted nothing like the cheese I would expect to find in such a dish, but home brand shredded cheese from a Coles supermarket around the corner. The slice of beef that was placed underneath the cheese was chewy and cold.

As a main my wife ordered the ricotta and spinach filled cannelloni, while I ordered the garlic prawns risotto.

The bowl of rice and prawns came sitting on one side of the dish cushioned by a folded napkin soaked from the vinegar from the salad. I didn't notice that until I lifted the bowl to take the last prawns from the bottom and it came dripping brown vinegar all over the table and on my shirt. Very frustrating for us as you can imagine.

The two (immense) cannelloni my wife had were completely tasteless. So much so that she only ate a third of one and couldn't have another bite.

When we enquired with the waitress whether we would be able to take the leftovers home (to try to make something out of it as we were paying for the whole meal), we were told that due to OH&S policies it would not be possible.

We found this fact quite curious, as when we went to pay, the waitress making the coffee was holding the full coffee cups from the top, the rim, where people would be drinking from.

At the end, after all this, we did not have the courage or appetite for the desserts or coffee, as we thought that, judging by what we had just experienced, it would not be worth it.

After we left the restaurant we went elsewhere for desserts and felt that maybe we should've gone to a different restaurant to celebrate the occasion.

Before writing this review I sent a number of emails to the manager of the venue without so much as an answer about what had happened.

We’ll never go back there again.

Personally I would like to see a few more options on Entree and Main Menu including Salads   (See my reviews (2) - April, 2010)

This place is absolutely excellent, my husband an I were at the lookout and decided to have a look at their menu.

We were able to be seated without a booking which was great as it was right on lunchtime. The staff were exceptionally friendly with fantastic knowledge of not only the menu but also the surrounding area.

The food was delivered in a not-unreasonable time, but while we waited we had the best view as a backdrop, something that not very many restaurants can top.

Food was absolutely delicious and was followed by coffee after wards.

So a trip up to the lookout turned into a fantastic lunch and afternoon out thanks to the excellent service provided by Arthur's Hotel   (Maree - See my reviews (2) - March, 2010)

A very charming restaurant with a European feel to it. Food was excellent and would have loved to have stayed for dessert but needed to get to drive-in on time. Will definitely come back in the future. Thanks for the great hospitality and the lovely pianist. Regards, Helen and Graham   (loquat restaurant - See my reviews (3) - May, 2009)
