The building has been part of the landscape since 1856, in that time its been a watchmaker, grocery, haberdashery and since the 1970’s The Balmain Bug. In its latest incarnation, The Balmain Bug is a welcoming restaurant, full of character with exposed beams, black & white marble floor and linen draped tables and blond wood chairs. Fine art Australia supply the decor on the walls, hanging an intriguing and engaging selection of nudes, outback sketches and dot paintings for sale by reknowned Australian artists Elizabeth Durack, Norman Lindsay and Indigenous artist Walangari, son of Albert Namatjira. Eyes twinkle and glasses tinkle at The Balmain Bug whilst deals are forged, hearts gel and families unite in this comfortably sophisticated and stylish venue.
