About Basil Pizza

Basil Pizza and Pasta was established in 2006 to create a range of delicious pizzas and meals to cater to our patron's diverse tastes in Newtown and surrounding suburbs. Famous for our quality, traditional and vegan pizzas, we now also offer gluten-free pizzas.

Speed ratings are based on user reviews given by customers who have ordered from Menulog before. Ratings are calculated on a scale of 1-10.

How your order is processed:

  1. Your order is transmitted to this restaurant the instant you submit your order,
  2. The restaurant confirms your order and advises us of the current delivery estimate,
  3. You automatically receive a confirmation email and/or sms with the updated delivery estimate AND contact information for the restaurant (should you experience any issues with the food or delivery),
  4. Menulog customer service representatives monitor orders to ensure they are confirmed immediately by the restaurant,
  5. The restaurant prepares the food and delivers directly to your door.
Menulog Voucher Terms and Conditions
  1. Only Menulog issued vouchers are accepted.
  2. Available only at restaurants that display 'Vouchers Accepted',
  3. Menulog facilitates the discount and pays the full amount directly to the restaurant.
  4. Vouchers can only be used in conjunction with paying via credit card,
  5. Must be used before its expiry date,
  6. Vouchers can only be used in full (ie. no change is given).
  7. Voucher code to be entered at end of checkout process.
  8. Final amount owing after voucher applied will be shown at the top of the credit card entry page.
  9. Menulog reserves the right to charge the value of the voucher to your allotted credit card if we determine that the voucher was redeemed contrary to the terms of use.

    As usual the pizza tasted extremely delicious. A little overpriced though. Slow delivery as usual has come to be expected. Delivery guy didn't know which order was ours which had us opening boxes in our doorway to find the right pizzas - Haha.   (Daniel - See my reviews (10) - April, 2013)

    I've ordered from Basil many times. The quality is the best I've found in the area. However, not only is the quoted wait time always long (40+mins), but they are consistently late. My last order was 30mins late, for example.   (Tom - March, 2013)

    Quite slow for a Sunday night (an hour), and the pizzas arrived cold (they were nice, and I like that I could order with a wholemeal base, but I can't rate high for cold pizza, sorry). I ordered the garlic prawn skewers and they sent garlic prawns cooked in cream, the delivery guy told me they were the same except cooked in cream, but having now checked the menu they are very different, plus I have paid more for those I didn't get! At least I got 25% off for it being my first order with them, but I don't think I will be back :(   (Bonnie - March, 2013)

    The first time we ordered the Pizza was beautiful (mexicana), but since we've started to order regularly, the service is becoming progressively worse.

    The second time we ordered, the delivery guy squashed the pizza with the pasta we ordered.

    The third time we had to call because they forgot our order (they didn't print it or something), then they forgot our drink which had to be delivered 40mins later (but they at least they gave us an extra bottle of Pepsi which was nice).

    However today, they delivered 30 mins late and the food tasted like it was microwaved (because it was probably sitting there for 30 mins).

    Coming from New York, I thought I knew what was to be known about pizza, and was happily surprised at what I could find here in Sydney. Recently moved here to Sydney and thought I'd give all the local pizza shops a shot, Basil has been the best experience byfar. I came for pick-up, 20 minutes after I had ordered and it was ready to go. The pizza I ordered was beyond delicious and they were happy to accommodate adding meat to the vegetarian pizza. Though a bit pricy for a personal pizza, I'd happily recommend this pizzeria to anyone in the neighborhood.   (See my reviews (2) - February, 2013)

    Have had good experiences in the restaurant, however, last delivery experience was so disappointing. Food took forever to arrive almost 2 hours. Then both pastas weren't cooked and flavour on one pasta was beyond bland - I ate the pine nuts out of it only. I sent a very friendly email to management saying I was usually so impressed & appreciative of their vegan efforts but etc.etc. and received a very insincere two line statement (not apology) from the OWNER saying the pasta chef had been fired. Honestly, what poor form. Firstly to tell a customer that? Secondly, it felt more to placate than to reassure me and thirdly you own the place mate - your bad attitude is filtering through your staff to the customers.   (Emily - November, 2012)

    Never had a problem with Basil and very surprised by some of the comments. Their pizzas are amazing, and being vegan they make our nights when we don't feel like cooking.

    Delivery time could be improved but let's not forget this is not pizza hut we're talking about: it's a small shop and the wait is worth it anyway. Thumbs up :D   (Daniel - See my reviews (2) - September, 2012)

    Unfortunately 2 terrible experiences. Pizza tasted very average for the price, toppings extremely meager & over cooked + cold. Order was late both times - 2 3/4 hrs late on the second, with very little apology. If management reads these comments here's an idea- if u are under staffed, etxra busy, etc... Stop taking orders! I am much more likely to try again next time if I haven't been stuffed around. Perhaps a friendly phone call advising of the situation would help...   (Karl - See my reviews (8) - September, 2012)

    The food is great however the delivery time is horrible. I live in Chippendale and it can take up to 2 hours to deliver. It's a shame because the food is so delicious. Don't think I'll order from here again.   (Nicole - September, 2012)
