I experienced a severe case of food poisoning after eating dinner there on Saturday the 27th of March 2010. We ordered the Munich Brewers Platter. The waiter told us the platter would serve 3 people when it could have served 8 easily. The platter was a pile of fatty, greasy meat. Way over priced for 3 people. Some friends and I went to Manly for dinner a couple of weeks ago and endded-up at the Bavarian Cafe on the wharf.

I was expected the food to be bland at best - but was actually pleasantly surprised by it - wasn't extraordinary, but was certainly very enjoyable...

However, things turned to the worst when one of my friends discovered a cockroach in his salad!

We called at once the manager, expecting at the very least a deserved apology. Which we never got! Quite the contrary... Within 2 minutes of conversation, hints were made that we had actually put the cockroach intentionally there!

My friend then took his knife and pushed it in the space between the two planks of our tables - from there appeared another 5 roaches!

Shame indeed at the location is great, and the service, appart from the manager, rather pleasant...   (miorcec - February, 2009)

Really disappointing experience, the $15 schnitzel & schnapps. Our last visit, the chips were soggy and very average, the schnitzel was the smallest we have every been served there (and we visit monthly) slow service, no schnapps arrived and we paid and left planning never to return.   (melissavb - January, 2009)

It was a nice lunch on a sunny Monday afternoon last week. I love the roast pork, and yes, I agree that it was a bit fatty. But, I enjoy the crackling....very crunchy.   (KP1509 - See my reviews (2) - March, 2008)

our first visit as locals. Was a nice place for lunch and enjoyed the food. I found it a bit pricey for the size of the serving - a few more sausages would have been nice. Was a very hot day and a fan or two wouldn't have gone astray either, but otherwise a good place for a bite and a bier!   (Adrian - January, 2008)

Food was great, pity the meals were so small, we expected them to be much bigger, especially for the price. Views were great, atmosphere great, was very busy and hence noisy. Staff were very attentive at times, but we were forgotton about at other times. Would go there again though!   (January, 2008)

I chose the wrong main. I never expected such a fatty piece of pork. I would go back to Bavarian Bier Cafe again and value for money is a hard ask on xmas day. cheers   (December, 2007)

Nice food and a fun place to dine. But the waitress had a bit too much attitude. I think she was trying to be funny, but trying to encourage the designated driver to drink more is not really a laughing matter.   (See my reviews (3) - November, 2007)
