Comforting to see others have shared recent poor experiences here. There are SO MANY better places to eat in Brighton. Definitely not the place to be on a quiet night. The bain maries must have been put on too early and the food left too long without, from what we observed, any checking by staff for temperature. The cold buffet was fine, the usual for the money, but the hot food was unpleasantly tepid. We didn't plan to complain - we just wanted a quiet night. We only mentioned this to the waitress because she asked us and could obviously see most of what we'd selected was still on the plate. Next thing we had a more senior server at our table checking on the problem - a good sign, you'd think, except that after promising to check up on the heat she didn't come back to us and the night manager said the food was perfect and the only explanation was blaming other customers for constantly opening the lids. Right. That would be the eight other people in the room... When we said we didn't think that could be the reason, he became quite agitated and suggested the food couldn't possibly have been cold in any case. How hard is it to get that all people want is a simple apology? Good heavens - I'd have accepted the offer of a microwaved plate just so I didn't leave hungry! The food would have been nondescript at the right temperature - but combined with the low heat and the way the manager decided to attack us because his staff had offered to investigate the problem, it was a very unpleasant meal indeed. I've been here before for functions and the food - ironically - was much hotter when there really *were* lots of people opening the lids all the time. We didn't go looking for great food, just something reliable that we didn't have to think about much. Instead, we were so ticked off that we've decided to post this review. Maybe the Novotel needs to include 'the power of the internet' in its customer service training

$75.00 per head for a seafood smorgasbord? Bit rich, who is going to eat $75.00 worth of seafood? A beer was $8.90 a rip off & will never go back. It is worth about $49.00 per head (like it was a couple of years ago).

went in mid sept 08 friday seafood buffet night, food was attrocious, prawns imported frozen, oysters small, hot selection not seafood related, meat/roasts dried, rice plain & potatoes,. for $70 way over priced at rsl quality, also waited over 30 minutes before asked if we wanted drinks, was charged for parking exiting, not happy. will not be returning.

Went there in September of this year when Klaus was the restaurant manager, food excellent. Took the inlaws there on Sunday 16th December for xmas lunch, what a difference, the food was awful, no ham, no pork and the hot food was dry and tastless, and the salads were not topped up, either was the seafood. Had to wait a long time for a drink, and after that they never came back. Also had to ask for them to clear the table. They cannot seem to get their act together. It has really gone downhill. I'm not sure if it was because we went on a rainy weeknight, but the food at this restaurant was very poor... the selection of salads was tiny, the meats were dry, the vegetables soggy and the deserts not very appetising at all ... I've enjoyed the salad bar offering at sizzler more than my entire meal at this restaurant. Its a shame really as I remember visiting this restaurant for lunch one weekend a year ago and the food was great ... not sure what's happened since ....
