Esca Bimbadgen is situated high on a hill in the heart of Hunter Valley Wine Country. Dedicated to the art of food & wine matching, Esca’s modern Australian cuisine, fresh local and home grown produce and spectacular views make for a truly memorable dining experience.

Esca's contemporary restaurant design features large glass windows and an open balcony allowing guests stunning wine country views over the Bimbadgen vineyards to the Brokenback ranges.

Esca Bimbadgen is a regional restaurant, that uses produce sourced locally or grown on the Estate including lemons, figs and fresh herbs. A feature of the menu are the Esca Tasting Plates, like a “mini-degustation”, where guests can enjoy three ‘tastes’ from the menu each matched with a Bimbadgen Estate wine.

The wine list offers not only wines from Bimbadgen, but a selection of wines from other Hunter Valley producers and classic wines from regional areas throughout Australia and the world. Esca also has a private dining room for serious wine and food tastings and occasions.  Recipient of one Wine Glass in the Gourmet Traveller Wine 2011 Wine List of the Year Awards.

A pioneer of fine dining in the Hunter Valley, Esca exemplifies the unique nature of a winery restaurant, rather than simply a restaurant in a winery.

I have been to Esca 3 times and I love it. Not only it's beautiful but the dishes are very refreshing and delicate, the menu changes regularly and yes the value for a classy meal in an award winning restaurant isn't the same as a pub meal value. Service was discreet but efficient and the wine we had was a wonderful discovery.   (Karla - February, 2012)

We arrived at 12.30 for lunch - an empty estaurant -. It took 45 minutes to serve entrees (the restaurant had started to fill up by this time). Supposedly renowned for its duck, my husband's main was stringy and overcooked. Anoher diner asked for spatchcock which he reported as' just OK'. I asked for the Red EntreeTasting Plate, not wanting too large a lunch. At $36.00 I thought this might be a nice size lunch. Instead 3 pieces of food no larger than a 50c piece were served on a large white platter. I decided not to order anything additional (we did have a bread platter)and left feeling extremely hungry. With a $200.00 + account for one bottle of house wine, two entrees and two mains (there were four of us) for very average food with constant poor service we decided this is one place we will definitely avoid in the future. Ambience is superb - the food - well I drove past a country pub advertising $8.00 lunches, on our way home and wondered could we have been much worse off in the traste buds, less hungry and perhaps $150.00 richer????

At $200 + a 'holiday surcharge' even though it was NOT a public holiday, I think we were entitled to expct a taste bud zing and a moderate quantity of food and good service.   (Bronz - April, 2010)
