We have had dinner here on Two occasions in the last 12 months and both times have been extremely delightful. The first occasion was my partners birtday. When we booked we were asked " Was it a Special occassion" we mentioned that we were celebrating a Birthday. We arrived and were greeted by the staff and given a lovely table and two complimentary glasses of Bubbly. After we enjoy a wonderful entree and Main Course my partners Dessert was presented on a large white plate with "Happy Birtday Alex" written in large Chocolate letters. This was fanastic and we planned to return. We returned here last week and found the same high standard of service and Food   (juliesummer - October, 2010)

A fantastic meal, the staff go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. The lovely soft lighting is very cosy   (Michael - August, 2010)

We just had dinner at Bistro Lilly an hour ago and we are extremely disappointed with the attitude of the staff (especially the elderly looking lady in black). I have read similar comments on eatability.com about this lady who was very rude, unfriendly and uninviting.

A friend gave us a voucher yesterday and whilst we all had social functions today (and were quite full), we decided to book a table for 3 at 630pm to have dessert and drinks.

When we arrived, we were shown to our table and wanted to order dessert and drinks. The lady in black approached us and said the following in a very condescending manner, "We are a proper restaurant and we do not just allow people to order dessert and drinks." We mentioned that we wanted to use a voucher that a friend gave us and she said in a very rude manner, "Well, everyone has those vouchers. You have to order a main each. Okay?"

We looked at each other after she left and were shocked at how rude she was. Rules are rules and we would have been fine with it but the way she delivered it was absolutely offensive and reflected a lack of refinement in manners and perhaps proper education.

We decided to order a reasonably priced bottle of wine($75), three mains (one for each person) and a dessert. We were already full but decided to give it a go. The food was average to good and the waiter and waitress were nice but the experience with the lady in black who was in charge just spoiled everything. We paid our bill and spoke to the lady and below is the exchange:

Me: Hi there, I just wanted to give some feedback. (Note: I said this as pleasantly as I could with a smile and there were two of us.)

      Lady in Black: Yes?

Me: I just wanted to tell you that we understand that rules are rules but the way you delivered it was very offensive. Perhaps next time you could tone it down a bit?

Lady in Black: Did you have a booking? (Note: I honestly do not see what this question was all about and why a booking or lack of booking would merit rudeness.)

Me: Yes, we actually did at 630pm. As I said, it is not so much the rules that we found offensive but your delivery of it.

Lady in Black: Fine! (Note: She said this in a very cold manner)

There was not even an apology or an explanation that it was not her intent to be rude or offensive.

That lady lacked class and as previously mentioned by other customers reflected a rude, unfriendly and uninviting persona. The other staff are actually good and warm and the food was average to great (we loved our Belgian Chocolate Dessert) but this lady needs to go back to school to learn basic manners   (cdlcruz - July, 2010)

Nice restaurant but nothing out of the ordinary. Service was really good, set menu was good value but choice was very limited.   (See my reviews (4) - April, 2010)
