  • Black Rock Cafe was established in 1999 by John Molcher who is the chef and owner of this modern cafe and restaurant which looks out over Gantheume Bay, where the Murchison River meets the Indian Ocean.

    At the channel entrance a natural reef is formed and in February 1984, after a violent storm, a large pointed black rock became visible, presumably rising from the reef below the sea.

    Terrible, overpriced uninteresting food that took nearly an hour to arrive.

    We had a stunning meal perhaps the best Marinara we have ever had. Staff were nice, had a long chat to John at lunchtime. This was a gem and to find it in the wild west well!!
