Blackwater Ristorante opened in November 2005. Blackwater is an authentic Italian contemporary style restaurant serving southern Italian based specialties.
The restaurant is situated on the Northern end of Captain Cook Bridge where it’s known as St. Kilda’s Point. We have a bar for which customers can enjoy a cocktail before seating to their table. Our cellar contains a good selection of Australian and Italian wines by the glass or the bottle. Blackwater also has beer on tap, local and imported bottled beers, and spirits. Blackwater strives for the most comparable service with its stunning views across The George’s River and premium Australian produce, Blackwater is the venue for any occasion to be special.

Great to see Blackwater on Sydney Weekender program. I just hope I can still get a reservation. It was hard enough as it was. I think this restaurant is getting better and better. Always happy...
Blackwater is easily the best restaurant in the St. George area! The bread alone is worth a lunchtime booking! I have eaten there six times now, and prices are reasonable for the quality of food on...

Riccardo Roberti - Australian born Riccardo Roberti has worked as a chef/restaurateur most of his adult life, culminating in critical recognition for his restaurant, “Blackwater” at Sans Souci. Roberti has always been passionate in his support and application of fine Australian produce to Italian cuisine. Roberti’s considerable local experience has given him an intimate knowledge of the food industry in Australia, but his success can also be attributed to a long family history of food preparation. Riccardo’s mother came from a family of restaurateurs, with a deep-rooted history in Neapolitan cuisine, so when Roberti’s family emigrated from Naples to Sydney in the 1960’s they wasted little time in opening their first restaurant, “The Marion”. His mother eruditely passed her knowledge to her children where at a young age Riccardo began to understand that cooking truly great Italian food requires, as they say in Italy; great passion or nothing. More recently, Riccardo with partner Natasha Battikha opened Blackwater in 2005, where they strive to provide a raised platform of contemporary Italian cuisine, with a clear and palpable vision of enhancing his family’s view of how food from the Campania region should be served. The ambiance at Blackwater compliments this vision with it’s savvy, chic, sex appeal and warm chocolate brown interiors; bistro chairs, backlit white and black onyx across the open kitchen, floor to ceiling windows and a Veuve Clicquot lined bar. This creates a seamless setting for the Marcel Wanders Horse Lamp artwork which serves to enhance both the restaurant décor and superb vista. Without avoiding cliché it has become clear that Blackwater, given its waterfront location, has caused a splash on the Sydney restaurant scene. An unspoilt view across the Georges River, coupled with exceptional cuisine has proven to be the perfect combination, coaxing fine food lovers from all over Sydney including the Sydney Morning Herald ‘Good Food Guide’ and Sydney Eats ‘Flash Eats’. The recognition extends itself also to Milan in Italy with the Italian Academy of Cuisine’s recent ‘Optima’ rating.
