Short on menus so had to wait approx 10 minutes to get one. Waited 40 minutes after ordering for meal to be ready (2 salads). Asked twice about when meal would be ready - first response was "soon we have been busy" - second response went to check and 5 minutes later came back with meal. Food nice but not value for money. Staff need further hospitality training definitely. Will not go back or recommend.   (Cathy - October, 2011)

the meals and service by the new owner "Louise" and her staff were well received by our group. The friendly atmosphere and terrific coffee ensure the return of our friends. If talk and laughter by other dinners is any indication of enjoyment then everyone was happy.   (rugby - November, 2010)

I had lunch at the Bogie Hole Cafe last week (14/02/09) & was most discusted in the Service - the Waitresses were rude, not at all friendly. I just read another review stating the waitresses were loudly having a converstation about thier nights out - I also had the unfortunate experience of this.... The service was S L O W, Definalty not worth the wait. My mother & father loved this cafe - not after last weekend. Will NEVER dine there again - would not reccomend it.   (Lucy - February, 2009)

this restaurant has the laziest, rudest, most incompetent and ignorant staff i have EVER seen (or could even imagine). i have never complained anywhere before....

four tables were ignored because they were rude enough to come in at 11.30 am when the staff were "resting".

finally i was asked for an order and told there were three tables to be served before us. i asked how long that would take and the delinquent told me to pay attention...she was too thick to see that some people measure time in minutes etc...we walked out... pathetic...would NEVER go there again.   (Ross - February, 2009)

We walked out paying $20 for two of us to have an entree's and mains. If the food wasnt so good we would have walked out refusing to pay. The service was terrible, the waitstaff were unattentive and made the simplest of tasks seem like a huge imposition on them. We had to get our own menu's, cutlery and were lucky to have our empty plates cleared from the table - while all the waitstaff were chatting about their week and sitting eating their dinner. Hands down the worst dining experience I have had in Newcastle.   (See my reviews (4) - September, 2008)

Service and food all good, have loved the Cafe for many years now, but I don't believe the $2 PER GLASS fee for BYO alcohol is warranted. Per bottle might be a little more reasonable?   (April, 2008)

I found the young lady who served us particularly pleasant and helpful, whereas the restaurant owner was noticeably rude.   (June, 2007)
