    The restaurant at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens would have to be one of the most delightful places to enjoy a meal anywhere in Tasmania, and its magnificent new deck offering sweeping views of the Gardens and Derwent River are an ideal place for an intimate meal or celebration.

    The restaurant offers top quality fresh Tasmanian produce prepared simply but beautifully, accompanied by local wine at very reasonable prices.

    The Gardens Restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch, coffee, drinks and morning and afternoon tea, and starting up again on October 13, 2007, it will offer breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays.

    Their Rogan Josh and Braised Beef were fantastic, while their Chicken Burgers were a bit rubbish. Ambience scored a bit lower because there was no gentle music, and when full of people, the indoors...

      Went for lunch recently, I had not been for a number of years and what a difference. There must have been a change of ownership. Thank God. Last time the scones could have been used in any uprising across the world as weapons in place of stones.       Their Rogan Josh and Braised Beef were fantastic, while their Chicken Burgers were a bit rubbish. Ambience scored a bit lower because there was no gentle music, and when full of people, the indoors eating area quickly becomes *very* noisy. The price was right, but the service was terrible - 50 minutes to be server our drinks, and another 40 minutes on top of that to be served our food. We needed to repeatedly ask for various things - twice for a second bottle of wine, and then three times for the bill over a space of 30 minutes.   (Nick - See my reviews (3) - October, 2007)

      Gorgeous view and great, fresh food featuring seasonal flavours and produce - we were all very happy with our meals and will return to sample some other dishes. Service was happy and friendly but a little erratic - but we weren't rushed for time so it didn't bother us. Our table in the window was lovely and our wander in the gardens after the meal was particularly beautiful.   (CJ - See my reviews (64) - May, 2007)
