Had dinner here on saturday night with a group of friends and was totally impressed with the menu and the service. We shared some entrees then had individual mains- mine from the daily specials which all sounded delicious, I had the carrot risotto which was creamy and well divine. We also tried a few sides and I especially loved the cauliflower,pomegranate and pinenut combo. Finished off with some desserts- home made affogato and chocolate and ricotta filled cannoli- we were all totally satisfied. Will definitely be back.   (cherry - June, 2011)

I I chose this restaurant as it was very close to the Theatre rather than through any online guide or review so I was pleasantly surprised to see the awards it had been given when we arrived at the front door. Inside was nice and I think we were lucky as the crowd was very light which made conversation very easy. Staff was friendly enough and certainly knew the menu when we asked about the various offerings.

To the food! We had an entrée, main and desert each, and while every serving was well presented the moment I saw the first entrée I instantly had that sinking feeling of “great looking food BUT where is it?”…Yes…the portions were tragically small! None of us left the restaurant satisfied; even my 12 year old daughter was still hungry.

Was the food quality good – Yes it was great, but the serving sizes way too small which tarnished the entire experience.

Cost wise it was WAY over the top for what we had. It was the most expensive meal I have had in years; and that’s comparing it to some very fine Toorak Rd establishments. At close to $100 a head one should expect a very nice evening indeed, however this night just left me poorer and disappointed.

Should you eat here? I think not…with the vast array of very fine restaurants in the Melbourne CBD you will find far better places serving real portions for far less pain. What a disappointment!   (tussuck - See my reviews (3) - January, 2011)

We stumbled across this restaurant on a quiet Friday night. What a nice surprise, the food was extraordinary and the experience as a whole was delightful. When the food arrived I knew immediately I would be sad once it was all consumed. The lamb stuffed with sweet bread was superb and suggest you get there fast before they replace it on the menu. Places like Bottega are why Melbourne has a reputation for quality food and service.   (Melb Living - See my reviews (2) - June, 2009)

it was amazing! I took my mum here for mothers day just to try something different. The meal was outstanding. I never usually try many foods, just take plain options. But i tried the cannoloni with snapper and crab it was so good!

I will be back for sure.

We had a fanastic dinner at bottega. We know our stuff when when it comes to food and the Bottega chef did an excellent job. All entree's mains and desserts were lovely. Service was nice, friendly staff, although had to wait a little for drinks order etc.

would have been nice to have just the one waiter, we had one person to deliver the water, one for the wine etc but maybe thats how they do it. they did manage quite well with only one waiter asking if we had ordered wine when we were waiting for ours to arrive. divine food and amazing atmosphere . very romantic   (See my reviews (2) - August, 2008)

I would return to Bottega just for the chocolate tart which was the best I have ever had! Must have been made with the best of ingredients. Another memorable dish was the osso bucco- every mouthful a sheer delight. Really liked the staff here too-upbeat, helpful but not in your face -only around when you needed them. I dined recently at Bottega. I was impressed by the sleek, yet warm interior that created a intimate dining experience. The food was really wonderful and this was replicated throughtout each part of the meal. The staff assisted by their attentive care. I regularly take clients to lunch at Bottega. The look and feel of the restaurant allows guests to feel special without being overwhelmed or made to feel out of place. This is complemented by the staff who are attentive and friendly, but never intrusive or chatty (and it's kinda nice to be recognised after a visit or two). The menu is accessible and satisfies all palettes without being pretentious. The food has never disappointed (as you would expect from a one hat restaurant). I'm no expert, but it seems to have the attention to detail that is displayed by the other facets of the restaurant. Interestingly, I have never found that the food requires additional seasoning. A wide selection of wine is available by the glass and bottle and I have had great experiences leaving it to the staff to complement wine with food. Interesting well matched wines arrive making me look good in front of my guests.

I have heard many good comments about Bottega from friends & colleagues but tend not to trust the hype. Bottega certainly exceeded all of my high expectations. From the moment I entered I felt welcome and well looked after. The service was swift and friendly but without being overbearing. The menu was full of choices for all on my table of 6, and the kitchen was accommodating for that one "fussy" diner on our table. This is simple food done with great produce and skill, if only more restaurants could excel in this area. Overall excellent value for money, I now have no hesitation in recommending Bottega.   (James - November, 2006)

I have rated my recent dining experience at Bottega as 10 for each category, not to simplify the rating process, but to highlight the amazing evening I experienced. I know I am a very fussy diner who feels that ambience and service are just as important as food. The Bottega experience was absolutely fantastic, the wine list complements the robust menu, each meal was perfect and the staff assistance and suggestions informative, not pushy. A professional establishment, more are needed in this country!!   (November, 2006)
