Brett's Wharf is located on the banks of the Brisbane River, and with seating for 160 inside and 60 outside on the covered terrace, the Restaurant has the perfect atmosphere in which to enjoy our wonderful food. Semi-private areas are available for corporate dinners, birthday parties and other celebrations. At Bretts Wharf the a la carte menu changes frequently. This is because the chefs quite literally respond to what has been caught that day. Different fish have very different flavours, so there's no point in having one style of cooking, sauces and accompaniments to go with a range of different types of fish.

People often think that, in order to drink at the bar at Bretts Wharf, they must dine in the restaurant. Not so. Guests are welcome anytime to drink at our bar, without the obligation to dine. Relax, enjoy the view, have a drink. Our chefs are from the adjacent Bretts Wharf Seafood Restaurant offering award-winning gourmet dining.

On Saturday nights there are 2 dining sessions - 5.30pm/6pm until 8.00pm and 8.30pm onwards. Please specify your dining time.

The staff were very attentive and professional, the meals were delicious - cold when should be cold and hot when should be hot, service was excellent and went out of their way to fulfill a special request for my niece to meet Allistair. It was such a surprise for her and she is still talking about it to anyone and everyone who will listen. We had travelled from Newcastle and Batemans Bay for this dinner and it was well worth the trip. Thank you all once again for a truly unforgetable experience. Next time we are in Brisbane we will definately visit again.   (October, 2010)

for the money we paid it was not what we expected, the food was very bland accross the board as there were 6 of us eating, the waiter that we had was extremely rude which made for a very uncomfortable dining experience. I have a lot of respect for alistair the owner from things i have seen him in on tv so we did expect more   (mark - September, 2010)

A girlfriend and I went for lunch during the week and for the price we were very disappointed. Fish and chips at the local would have been more appetising.   (tracey - See my reviews (2) - September, 2010)

So disappointed. My piece of grilled fish came with oily chips and wedges of tomato. I was really expecting something a bit fancier. For the price, it was not great.   (Janet59 - See my reviews (2) - July, 2010)

Visited Bretts Wharf in Brisbane last Saturday Evening with my partner after watching Alastair cook on Ready Steady Cook over the years. I'am sorry, but we were dissapointed to say the least in the Quality of the Meals we were served. My serving of Grilled Morten Bay Bugs was simply not up to the standard we expect from such an Up-Market Restaraunt. The Bugs were dry and tasteless, the shells of the Bugs were limp and rubbery and and looked like they had been fried in oil, and on commenting about it to the waiter all I received was an "ok", nothing else said. So after much expectation of a great Alastair cooked fresh vibrant meal, we left feeling very disheartened. (Crighton- July 2010   (crighton 17/7/2010 - July, 2010)

We dine here for Sunday lunch at least once per month. It is by far the best restaurant in Brisbane. The mains are divine (tried them all), the desserts to die for and the service outstanding. For this excellent place, I will put up with the somewhat sargeant major Maitre 'D at the front who delighted one day (when we failed to book) in chiding us for not booking. We left with our proverbial tails between our legs but gladly returned the following week (booking firstly of course).   (Dissapointing - See my reviews (3) - July, 2010)

Unfortunately we waited more than 45 mins for our mains after entrees were cleared, when they arrived - one was cold. (although the food was good) We had to remind the waited about a drink order too...   (Caroline Holland - March, 2010)

I was really disappointed with the "banquet". there were 3 prawns, one small oyster, a glass full of chopped lettuce with 2 tiny pieces of lobster, a deep fried pice of fish that was decent sized but looked like it had been refried or fried in old oil.

the waiter and manager made a huge deal of wanting to satisfy my disappointment and did this by giving me 3 more prawns.   (thumbone - March, 2010)

I visited Brett's Wharf with my husband and daughter. We ordered Stuffed Olive tapas, my husband and daughter had the seafood plate for mains and I had the grilled bugs. The platter for 1 was a generous amount for my husband and my daughter was unable to finish hers. My bugs were divine, full of flavour and a generous serve. My daughter managed a dessert - baked walnut cream, and poached peach - also divine.

The thing we like most about this restaurant however is the outlook across the Brisbane River and the service. It is friendly, timely and staff seem really happy to be there. A great experience.   (January, 2010)

We took visitors from South Australia there and weren't disappointed yet again. Exceptional food with great water views and friendly wait staff. 2 ordered the steak and moreton bay bug. SENSATIONAL!! Steak melted in mouth and full of flavour. Others ordered a variety of seafood and steak dishes and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Definitely a must visit place to dine.   (Getmeagreatmeal - August, 2009)

The service was excellent with an attentive waiter Jade. The food experience was somewhat disappointing - my 6 oysters for $19 were small and lacking in flavour. The tempura salmon was beautifully cooked although the asian greens were bitter - overall OK. My partner's meals were better - the spring rolls tasty and nicely cooked the main meal of moreton bay bugs nicely presented and good flavour, the accompanying calamari was tasteless though tender. Would not rush back.   (March, 2009)

The food was great and priced reasonable for the type of establisment Bretts is. The service did let the place down a bit with our waiter mixing up two of our meals meals. All in all a nice night out.   (November, 2008)

food took forever, then the meals for a table of six came out at different time so some of the table were sitting there for 30 mins waiting for us to finish. My steak was sent back twice as they have no idea what medium is apart for almost raw

never again   (Silent Bob - October, 2008)
