    Up and beyond the grand staircase, two large and flexible rooms - the Grand Room and the Onyx Room - have been elegantly restored and provide a stylish space for meetings, conferences, cocktail parties, weddings and other special celebrations.

      What an exciting and beautiful bar and restaurant, had the best time during our stay in Melbourne food was great, service was with a smile ( and they know their wines) which were delicious and the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement which was awesome will be back very soon   (shellbell - November, 2010)

      been to comme a couple of times, once on a saturday and once on a friday. definately reccommend dining on a saturday night if you want a relaxed, quiet dining experience! friday was bearable but there was a fair bit of noise coming from the bar, and our intimate dinner for 2 ended up bein shared with what felt like half a football team. they did however, warn us that friday nights were loud when we booked, and the waiter was very apologetic about the blokes next to us, even though we didn't complai i think he just knew!

      the food at comme is amazing. the best part is you can take your time and explore the menu - we order 3 or so dishes at a time with a glass of wine, then ponder 3 more, then if we can handle it.. 3 more.. by then we're usually stuffed! the oysters with chorizo are standout, as are the lamb croquettes and mains of rabbit and polenta if i recall correctly, and the side of brussels sprouts with i think it was proscuitto was soo good! i don't even like brussels sprouts that much.

      the service is usually faultless, though the first time we dined we waited 45 minutes for bread. by this stage we had ordered both food and drinks and had to ask. oher than that comme is fantastic value for money, at least 4 light dishes and 2 mains with 4 glasses of wine came to just under $130.

      Worth checking out, we will be back again and again!   (ellenfft - See my reviews (2) - June, 2009)

    Simon Arkless - Simon's innovative cooking talents have been enjoyed in Melbourne for the past four years, as Executive Chef of Treasury Restaurant and most recently, as Head Chef and owner of Seddon's Elbow Room. Prior to arriving in Melbourne in 2002. Simon was Head Chef of Harvey Nichol's Oxo Tower London Restaurant for five years. He also worked at Harvey Nichols' 5th Floor Restaurant for four years and Bibendum Restaurant for three.
