A new benchmark in Indian Dining has been reached. From the fiery Tandoor - ovengrilled chicken and mild lamb khormas from the north to the spicy dishes of the south. It is almost impossible to appreciate India at a glance, but at Darbar you will experience a taste of what India is like.
The Mughals brought with them to India exotic spices, fruit and nuts, which they combined with meat, vegtables, milk and cream to create rich mouthwatering Murghali Dishes. These are amongst the finest in Indian Regional Cuisine. Darbar Brings this authentic taste to you. Recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation mixed with melodic spices that become music to your mouth are the trademarks of fine Indian Cuisine.
Also enjoy the exotic flavour of our South Indian Cuisine, such as Idly, Dosa and Uthappam, at Darbar. We have left no stone unturned to let you enjoy the taste of the hundreds of types of dishes from all over the Indian subcontinent, categorised as mild medium or hot.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT. The good reviews are from two years ago. Obviously they have changed management since then. I waiting TWO HOURS for my food and when it arrived they had got the order wrong! So they went back and I didn't get what I ordered until THREE HOURS after the order was placed. Had to call them after ninety minutes. The guy told us there had been a mix up and he'd be a further thirty minutes. He pulled up in a taxi and told us that one of the dishes we ordered, the darbar chat, was "no good", so he'd replaced it with chicken tikka. Would have been nice for him to phone us beforehand to let us know, considering we're vegetarian.
Have always loved eating at Darbar, but the delivery service was extremely disappointing, and the food was not its usual quality. (Jenny - April, 2013)

Food was alright, arrived after one hour. $17 for a dosa not worth it, but no one else delivering around so left with no options. overall - ok (gaurav - See my reviews (2) - April, 2013)

Original delivery time was 1.5hrs after order. We started calling after 1hr40mins, and were told the food had left 20mins before. After 2hs, and multiple calls to the restaurant that weren't answered, we gave up waiting, cooked our own, and sent the driver away with the cold food when he finally arrived. Staff very rude when we finally reached them. Poor service. (Belinda - April, 2013)

The food had good flavours but took an hour to deliver. This time is OK but the food was not hot enough and may have been in transit too long. Overall a good tasting meal and better than other Indian food in this area. Work on your delivery time if you want yo do the food justice. Will order again. (peter - February, 2013)

Food and delivery was good. Did not receive as much food as other Indian restaurants we have have ordered from. Most likely will order from another place from now as we have found one which the food and service was better. However this place is not bad. (See my reviews (3) - October, 2012)

Cold food. 1hr 45min to delivery with no apology and I live in the CBD. What can I say? Never, ever, ever again... Wish i would have read the reviews before I wasted a Sunday evening on this joint. (Mike - August, 2012)

Delivery was late (took 1hr 20min we were told 40 min delivery time), food was dead cold and the order wrong, I rang the restaurant and they said they would call the driver, 15 mins later the restaurant called back I answered and the woman said hello I answered hello and then had a conversation with someone else in the restaurant for about a minute then decided to talk to me advising me that they had given our order to another customer and that they would swap I explained how cold it already was and the lady said she would call me back and arrange a discount food came another 20 mins later our order was still not complete I called again to advise our papadums were missing. The lay said the driver would come back with them. 30 mons later the driver called to say he wouldn't be back with our papadums and he couldn't refund our $ due to ordering from menu log and that he could bring us $4 by then I had given up. I am nearly 8 months pregnant and diabetic I'd had my insulin shot according to the delivery time and as delivery went over time I began to become hypoglycemic. I was disappointed by Darbars service and am appalled that no satisfactory resolution was made to me as the customer my family, friends and extended family all live in the area and go to Darbar regularly. I will be sure to tell everyone of my experience. I hope Darbar read this and improve their service. I will say that once we heated the food in the microwave it tasted great. I couldn't have the chicken as it had been left to go cold and would be unsafe for a pregnant woman to eat. I certainly will not pay a premium for service from Darbar again and it's disappointing that a discount can not be made because of ordering through menu log I am now hesitant to use this service too. I was a fan of Darbar when they first opened, but the service has gone from bad, to worse, to abysmal to completely unacceptable. Latest experience: The food took almost two hours to arrive, we received three phone calls (from a taxi driver!) to find out what our address was, the food not only arrived cold, but appeared to have been chucked around the cab with the result that the palak paneer had leaked right through the bag and the papadums were crushed. I called the restaurant to complain, got the answering machine and left a message requesting a phone call and a credit to my card. So far, no response. Sorry Darbar: that's the last time. Nice food, definitely better than the average call-in Indian, but the service is woeful. My meal was full of chilli, which was not on the menu, and delivery was really late. When I called to ask when we might receive it, I was told "soon" (clearly had no idea). Would be worth the extra $$ if the service was good, but it's not. Have eaten in and ordered many times. This is an EXPENSIVE Indian, but the food is excellent. Well defined flavours, good meat quality, good portions. Service not always brilliant in the restaurant and a few too many wine selections. The Darbar Chat looks pretty but is pretty much the only horror story on the menu to my mind, sickly and brutal. I've eaten all the vegetarian options and sampled numerous others. Try the pancake entree! But be warned the large is too big even for two. (Jacqueline - See my reviews (4) - June, 2011)

bad service. organised a party and half of the guests left without food. one of the guests asked for a takeaway and these people gave them just a curry for takeaway. this place is a disgrace in the name of service. if anyone is even thinking of having food here think twice. plus the manager and owners are too rude even for an apology, (bad bad and only bad - June, 2011)

The food was tasty, but I''m not sure it is significantly better than many other indian places, which are much cheaper. Also, although the website said the expected delivery time was around 30 min, it was closer to 60. But they have some good deals, so would consider ordering from here again.
