Simply put...we (a regular group of middle-aged motorcycle enthusiasts) have made Double Take a regular stop on our weekly runs, 'cos the food is nothing short of sensational. Service is invariably personable and efficient without being unctuous. And the coffee…? Ohmidgod the coffee!! The new premises are big improvement on the old cramped Double Take, with faster service and a more comfortable dining experience. I can’t help but notice that it’s always busy, and this would indicate that I’m not a hopeless fanboy spruiking the joint. If volume is ya thing, maybe Macca’s is the go, or some fried food joint. - Go you good thing Doublers!!   (August, 2008)

The new larger premises are potentially good but the furniture arrangements and the counter area are a logjam.

Prices have pretty much doubled and portion size has diminished by 25% to 40% on most meals. The old staff were warmer, friendlier and much more in-tune. The new staff, in the main, are much less skilled at listening to customer needs and order details. You will feel a very much thinner wallet than in 2005-2007 and you'll wonder why. I hope the owners get a grasp on why they are serving mainly passing trade now and why many of their long-term regulars are going elsewhere more often. The place has a great location but maybe the owners want to pay the bank loan off too quickly.   (Marshall Katz - See my reviews (38) - May, 2008)

Just as described in the blurb above: Very good fresh food plus desserts and slices made on the premises or at the twins' homes or friends' homes. The coffee is excellent and has a strong first taste and a smooth aftertaste.Nothing is too much trouble.Staff are generally young, fresh and enthusiastic.Value for money used to be 8-10 about 12 months ago.Popularity and larger (always full) premises mean that premiums have been added to the meal prices. What was $8 to $13 less than 15 months ago is now $18 to $20. I hope that it does not price itself above its regular clientèle to make fast "dough" from well-heeled tourists and one-time only visitors. WHat was $8 to $13 less than 15 months ago is now in the $15 to $22 range ... and the portions have started shrinking.Keryn and Lynne should be alert to the risk of alienation.   (Marshall Katz - See my reviews (38) - October, 2007)
