Can't believe the fuss about this place. The food would have been better if bought from Coles and thrown on a plate as all tasted pre-prepared or shop bought. Service was apalling but more the situation of being understaffed and not junior staff not supported. Considering the quality of the food - its better value to go to McDonalds!! Won't ever go back. Probably the worst $150 ever spent!!   (Wendy - April, 2010)

I was waiting for yet another delayed Qantas flight when I decided to take my colleague for a good German feed. I had not been to Elmar's before but had heard good reports.

For myself, I lived in Germany for 8 years and love German dishes.

I was not disappointed. In fact, the leberkaese was true to the mark. My colleague enjoyed the taster plate and the huge bowl of scotch broth.

The only thing missing .... a good himbee or willi after the meal ( for the uninitiated .. types of schnapps).

If you love German food, try the delicatesen. I bought some kasseler and myself and my wife enjoyed them thoroughly. The wurst are also superb with a great smoke flavour.

I live in Sydney but can't wait to get back to Perth to do this again.

Small warning ... the Schweinshaxe is mega big .... share it!   (Strangy - July, 2008)

MAy have been overloaded for mothers day but cant see how it got the rating it has in menu log of ovver 8. Ignored us when we got there the opposite of being made welcome. Did not want to provide a menu once seated. Had to ask twice for water when it should have been provided automatically. Had "run out" of ribs then why over book for the 2.30 sitting. I found nothing positve to recommend it above others. Maybe I got the wrong idea of what it was supposed to be but it needs a touch of Ramsey and I'd never go there again.   (May, 2008)

Prawn Cocktail entree: Cooked prawns and salad sauce. This all appreared to be made up of 'bought-in' pre-prepared products and not made up fresh at the reataurant. Elmar’s Ham Platter (Elmar’s Schinken Platte): selection of Elmar’s famous ham; potato salad, mixed pickles; gourmet bread. The watery potato salad appeared to be a 'bought-in' pre-prepared variety   (May, 2008)
