I was very happy at Dickson Family Food Court.

My family of 2 adults and 2 kids arrived famished in Canberra and I wanted an inexpensive family friendly restaurant. Place was SPOTLESSLY clean - really good.

Food was hot and invitingly laid out in 3 large Bain Maries with splatter guards very much alike to Sizzler.

My children and husband were very happy whilst there, exclaimed at the range of foods and I noticed other people did too.

      SOUPS

There was 3 soups, Sweet Corn, Chicken and Mushroom,

Toasted Croutons, fresh bread rolls with sesame seeds.

      SALADS

Pasta salad, 4 bean mix, pineapple, beetroot, many other fresh salad ingrediants.

      Many dressings and sauces provided.

      Sliced sandwich ham.

      SEAFOOD

Lovely little herbed squids in olive oil, prawn and crabstick with lettuce salad, fish in Mayonaise. Fried large fish cocktails. Calamari Rings.

      MISCELLANEOUS

Fried crumbed chicken pieces. Lasagne. Hot Chips.

      Roasts,

      Pork with perfectly done crackling.

      Beef . Gravies and Sauces.

      CHINESE

Sweet and sour pork, Garlic Beef, Soft fried noodles (yum), Fried Rice, Spring Rolls, Combination braised vegetables. Prawn Chips.

      DESSERTS

Ice cream, (strawberry, chocolate and vanilla). Chocolate Cake. Fresh Fruits. Tapioca Pudding, Jelly.

I have no doubt that I have forgotten some elements of what was there. Spring rolls, fish cocktails and calamari rings were constantly being replaced.

The female staff kept cleaning and stirring the hot foods. Empty plates were promptly removed, the staff were quite pleasant.

Crockery all matched as did cutlery and glassware.

      We will return.   (August, 2012)

We made the BIG MISTAKE of returning to this restaurant after 6 years. It most certainly does not live up to its advertisement. The roast was tough to cut even with an electric knife. The pineapple in the salad bar was fermenting. The only fruit that looked at all appealing was the plastic fruit. The 'wide variety of desserts' included blancmange, orange jelly and a cheesecake made of blancmange and orange jelly. We will not return.   (See my reviews (2) - August, 2010)

I have visited this establishment on many occasions.

It isn't your usual style of resturant, it's more of a caffeteria style - thus the term "Food Court" in the name.

In the majority the the food has been of excellent quality, with a wide array of choice of dishes, from roasts to seafood to asian to deserts, all in a buffet setting.

On busy nights they can get a little pushy with customers taking up tables while others are waiting to be seated.

My vertict? Stongly recommended!!   (Wheelz - See my reviews (2) - December, 2008)

We are travelers passing through, the service at this place was bad, staff were very rude. We only wanted one drink as I didn't want one, I was told in a very rude way that we were not to share the drink , as I told her again I did not want a drink. The staff then continued to watch us the whole time to make sure we didn't share. Very off putting.(If I wasn't so angry it would have been funny) I would definitely not go back. Cheap and nasty food.   (No drink 4 u - See my reviews (2) - September, 2008)

We went for a birthday dinner. The food was cold and I was shocked that they charged $0.50 for water. The staff were rude and asked some of the members of our group to leave as they had eaten before they came and were just there for drinks for the birthday celebrations. I will definitely not be going back.   (addy - See my reviews (2) - August, 2008)

Range and quality of food (buffet style) is extensive and well presented. Staff is polite and attentive, and the value for money is superb. Decor and layout is fine for this fast service environment, although attention to some carpet stains would greatly enhance the overall dining experience. Most enjoyable and thoroughly recommended for the excellent value.   (ABACUS - See my reviews (2) - May, 2007)
