    Very nice location but food is disgusting and very bland. I would not recommend this restaurant for dining. It's only good for coffee and cakes and drinks only.

    As part of couples i enjoyed dinner on Sunday at Fangos. Between us we had 4 young children. The waitresses were most pleasant and friendly to both the adults and the children, offering them crayon...

      As part of couples i enjoyed dinner on Sunday at Fangos. Between us we had 4 young children. The waitresses were most pleasant and friendly to both the adults and the children, offering them crayons and coloring in pictures to occupy them with.       Fantastic location & has so much potential, menu needs more variety. Some foods are great (chicken & veg. stack) though others quite bland. In the right hands and with more professionalism this place would be an absolute gold mine.       REALLY BAD! We have had 3 bad experiences, therefore will not be returning or recommending Fango. It is in such a great location, with so much potential, however the last time we went was a quite night - probably 5-6 tables. We waited an hour & 10 mins for our BBQ seafood. The salmon came out cold, tasteless and raw. (Not sure what they were doing for an hour!) The mixed seafood basket had three mussels that didn't even open therefore unable eat them - also suggesting they were not fresh. Waitresses forgot a couple of things, never heard any apologies. It's disappointing, so hoping we would get third time lucky!   (Helen - March, 2010)

      This place is ok, awesome location, food is lovely. Owners need to deal with the bugs better - I understand its just by the lake however the amount of flies and mozzies is insane and does spoil a nice dinner outside. Also need more floor staff - why 3 waitresses behind the bar and only 1 or 2 poor kids on the floor is just poor management - someone needs to step up and take control of this place. Also I have been here a few times the coffee needs to be more consistent, I would say only 1 out of 3 times you get a decent coffee, more often than not its a latte with about 2 inches of awful burnt froth - does the coffee maker not even look at what they are serving?? it is meant to be a "cafe"after all....   (smokeyjoe - March, 2010)

      Absolutely disappointed with my dinner. Had BBQ pieces from so called "Seafood BBQ". It was served on a very small portion of very tasteless rice pilaf, wrapped in a piece of foil. The only tasteful thing on that plate was the green salad.

      we love that they have a LIVE band the first friday of a month and their eggplant chips are to die for. Totally scrumptious. I haven't ever had poor service infact at times they were very accomodating towards closing time so its hard to believe this happened to some maybe the staff were having an extremely busy day!   (Deepa - October, 2009)

      I had heard mixed reviews about Fango from our neighbors but still decided to give you a try and all I can say is ‘Excellent Fango!!’ What a fantastic experience and I’ve made a few people jealous ‘showing off’ your café as my new local. I can’t wait for the new menu if the lamb special is a reflection of what is to come. I couldn’t stop stealing my husbands. My chicken was really nice too. Now we have recently moved to the area we’ll come give the Sunday roast a try. I’ll be a regular for sure. We had a nice warm greeting when we arrived all our food was perfect, the service is well above average and were invited back when we left. Can't wait to get back and enjoy the view. We loved everything. Highly highly recommended   (Simone - September, 2009)

      I highly recommend Fango Cafe to any one willing to give it a try. We just had the best fathers day lunch for years. I would like to thank the floor staff for their attentiveness and the kitchen for a wonderful lunch. We've been before and it was ok but Sunday was a truly wonderful day. The location, the service and the food really was better than anything within 15 km. We'll be back soon for sure. Thank you again   (I love food - September, 2009)

      The view over the lake is wonderful, the ambience is great even on a cold quiet winter night. The floor has come together, the service is very attentive and most of the wait staff now have good knowledge of specials and menu items but now the food is starting to slip. If it's not one it's the other!! You would be the place to go to in Caroline Springs if you could just get it to click and be great all together. The food was great for a while. It is still good but missing that edge. Your scotch fillet are excellent- not cooked perfect but a wonderful aged cut of meat and the rockling is well presented, really nice taste but overcooked. I am finding that you have nearly always run out of a menu item. Happens too often and there is really no excuse. I, as the customer am disappointed when I recommend things to friends and bring them in to find it has 'run out'.

      Overall Fango is still an OK place to dine. Fantastic value for money. I will be back. You just need a really good polish and one day will be great and I don't want to miss that day!!!   (out and about - See my reviews (2) - July, 2009)

      Restaurant response - Thankyou once again out and about. We at fango are very lucky to have patrons such as yourself giving us proper and to the point feed back. Our products are sourced and checked regularly, so to hear you enjoyed our scotch fillet and rockling is fantastic. In regards to "running out of menu items" if you are referring to our specials menus yes we do run out, they are specials after all,we purchase only limited amounts of each item to see how they sell and are enjoyed. On the other hand if you are referring to our main menu items we apoligise for this and under our new management will strive to stop this happening.       When we first moved to the surrounding area a couple of years ago we went to Fango's all the time. We have since stopped going all together for the following reasons: Service poor and slow, food quality very poor(meatballs still frozen on the inside served to me once) staff are very inexperienced, example: my wife found a paperclip in her lemon/lime/bitters and we did not get an apology just the offer of another. Overall very poorly managed, its a shame because it has the potential of being the leader in food service in its locale.   (jpgs28 - July, 2009)

      Restaurant response - In response to your review dated july 2009. I do remember this instance, back a few months ago, how could we forget. Firstly frozen meatballs I can guarantee that we do not and never have frozen our meatballs they sell much too fast for us to do that. We here at fango try every day to achieve the highest standard in food and service, if you are not happy we ask for your feed back straight away so we can deal with the problem on the spot, not via internet sites. Secondly a paperclip in a drink, or any thing for that matter. We are appalled that this can happen. New management at fango has now taken steps to ensure this will never happen again. We do hope you will revisit fango again one day to see all the exiting new specials, winter set menus, drink specials and full Italian menu   (jpgs28 - July, 2009)

      First time I been there was around 9pm and we just had coffee and cake, service quite slow, even only 2-3 tables of customers there. Quite short staffs. Coffee is ok, average. Cake portion is big, but not homemade, not a big problem for me.

      Second time we went there for dinner but around 9pm as well. I was Sat night, only 2-3 tables of customers there. Service still slow, but I was not rush, so not big problem too.

      The Today's special dinner menu is quite special and good vaule for what you can get, well cook, taste fresh and good.

      we had 2 entree, 2 main, 1 beer, 1 coffee. and 1 dessert, total bill around $90, can get that from anywhere else what that sort of enviroment.

      We've started to notice some positive changes at Fango. We often eat there when we're staying local. We find that the food is cooked fairly well but the menu is a bit limited in variety. I'd really like some better specials- they're too hit and miss. The service is getting slowly getting better, but still a way to go. Overall pretty good.

      We love a quick lunch and we love our Saturday breakfasts when we're up to it.

      The venue is fantastic, and had often dined there. However we found this experience a little disappointing. The food, although largely portioned, did not appear to be freshly made. ie, napoli sauces appear not home made. The linguine napoli pasta was overcooked and the sauce although generous in one bowl, was not the case in the other bowl. Could do better with food quality overall.   (j - March, 2009)

      Restaurant response - Dear j i am very disapointed to read your review. We here at fango are and have been trying to improve since late november 2008, with the arival of our new head chef . He has implemented many changes some good some not so. But i assure you the napoli in our kids meals as in all our pastas is freshly made.       we ate at fango's about three weeks ago and were very impresed with the whole experience firstly we had the seafood bbq fantastic idea by the way but the mussels not so good we spoke to the waitress and in a matter of minutes the chef was out to apoligise to us and re cook more food for us this in a small restaurant is fantastic to see they care we will be back again and so should you !!!   (mystery shopper - February, 2009)

      In such a small community, i think management needs to be aware that news travels fast. I am yet to have a waitress that doesn't look down her nose at you, and last time we were bought the bill before we have even finished eating. When we asked the staff about closing time we were answered with "soon". Very unfriendly and rude environment.       Overall the experience was great, the only criticisms were that after they initally took us to our table and took drink orders, it took an hr for the waiter to return and take our food orders. In addtion, they had champagne on show that when we ordered they did not have any cold. But the food was great!!!   (November, 2008)

      Having just moved to Caroline Springs Fango's was recommended to me so I took the opportunity to take my overseas visitors.

      To my disappointment the steak was not Scotch Filet as there was so much fat I ended up with very little steak and what was left was so chewy I only had 3 bites of it.

      The lemon fish was greasy, that my visitors had to take anti-acid pills and when we complained as our plates where still full of food we didn’t event get an apology.

      When we paid, my overseas visitors commented to the lady about the meals and were told the chef was far too busy to see us, or for anyone to make an apology.

      This was not a great dining experience and I have feed this information back to my friends who recommended Fango’s.

      An experience I will not be entertaining again.   (Not the best experience - October, 2008)

      Dined here on 13th September. A very disappointing experience. The food was rustic and wholesome however I did not get a chance to enjoy it as much as I could have due to the profuse number of mosquitoes that were around that night, landing in the food and drinks. The decor was nice but this was again spoiled by the mosquito problem - there were hundreds of them surrounding the lights. The meals were pricey but fairly standard and the service was by far the worst I have ever experienced. The waitress was very unprofessional and unfriendly. Was not very accomodating. I will not be back. Nor will the six other people who were dining with me that night.   (Disappointed - October, 2008)

      have been going to Fangos for almost three years - service, quality has dropped in the last twelve months (new management ???) ... they were great when they started and the family enjoyed breakfast there every other weekend - we have now stopped going there (after giving it three more chances) and prefer driving a few suburbs away for our ritual weekend breakfast - its a shame that we now have to drive, when we could have walked to Fangos ... :-(   (sandman - July, 2008)
