Fish and Chips

Service style is that you order at the counter. The food here is consistently good, delicious fresh fish and chips. Large servings of chips. The prices are quite expensive for fish and chips, and you can't ring ahead for take-aways. The main thing that deters me from eating here is that it is kid-friendly and I can't stand noisy kids running around, so probably a good place to take the kids as there are blackboards etc to keep them entertained.   (picky eater! - See my reviews (9) - April, 2009)

We tried this gem only because we took the river cruise and received a 10% discount - and because it was so close. We enjoyed the crisp cool air on the boat and it gave us an appetite and we were not disappointed. The fish was fresh and moist while the prawns crunchy. The chips were fluffy in the middle and crunchy on the outside whilst my husband went to heaven eating one of their potato cakes. It's a must try. Great for kids, however prices may make it something that you do for special occasions rather than making it a frequent treat. Brilliant fish and chips, particularly the chips, I've never had better! Salads are lovely and fresh, everything else brilliant. Only problem is the price of the fish is outrageous and prevents us making it a much more regular meal out.   (See my reviews (11) - July, 2008)
