Amazing, I had no idea dinning out could be like this. From the initial greeting to the food, wine and service. Amazing....

This was an absolutely fantastic experience. You will not be disappointed, the service is second to none and the room smells so beautiful of fresh flowers. I had very high expectations and they were met and surpassed. I ate there for lunch today and I am still full at 21:30pm! You may pay a little more, but you will get value and a dinning out experience that is exotically intoxicating.

My employer, took 15 employees to the flower drum for annual dinner. We had a 6 course banquet all silver served to us. The food was impressive to say the least. We had 1 manager and 1 waiter assigned to our room. I still remeber the waiter with a trainee name tag. The fish fillet was nice and the san choy bau was amazing. The eye fillet melted in your muth literally and the fruit platter was a mixture of fresh and exotic fruit. Well done David and the rest of the team.

I have to say i went with great expectations! We arrived and were welcomed and asked to wait for the lift but the waiter forgot to press the button for the lift. But arriving in the main restaurant the the service at beginning of the night was outstanding. The time to check over the menu, the water filled all the time and an excellent wine list. But as the night went on the cracks started to appear in the night. Appetizers were excellent and the wine chosen terrific but the waiter started rushing the wine not waiting for the glass to be finished! Which became frustrating. The main meals were just OK in general mine in particular was barely eatable (they did take this meal off the bill) then the water took longer to fill the tea longer to fill.. the longer the night went the more ordinary everything got...

Great food but overrated!

I would save this one for a special occasion, the food is just like old school Chinese, sweet and sour etc so don't expect anything much more exotic however the main difference is in the quality of the ingredients and the way its been put together, you will never get the same at your corner Chinese I don't care who says it. Excellent service they just know when you want something without being pushy. Definitely a Melbourne dining must do! Great food and evening out.

Was very disappointed with the entire experience. Expected the food to be much better, service also. Essentially, we paid a small fortune for Chinese food not much better than our local down the road. Flower Drum is highly over rated. We will not be returning.

average food, nowhere near value for money but the best service around.

The food and service was excellent, drinks way too dear. $22 for a glass of champagne, $16 for scotch, needs to be a little cheaper.

The food was devine, the service was superb.

We are so disappointment!! Probably too much expect for this restaurant. The food is just above average, fresh enough but menu is boring. Service is nice if compare with others restaurant in Chinatown. However, overall i don't think this restaurant is value for money. We won't come back again.

What a disappointment! After waiting many years to finally go & experience Flower Drum I was totally shocked at the bland boring food. Our local chinese, Chois, is far better than this overpriced restaurant. I can't believe how everyone has been brainwashed that this is good food. Its a bit like the emporer's new clothes. An absolutely amazing restaurant and clearly deserves its place as one of the culinary elite in Australia. A must for any Melbournite at least once in a life-time..

The food was incredible. The staff was attentive, helpful, enthusiastic and made us feel special. It is not one for been there done that, it needs to be repeated. We would definitely go back!

WOW what an amazing night! This place is well worth the wait and name that it holds in being the best Chinese restaurant in Oz.

Great food with great ambience. Just felt like we weren't as important as some others who were dining. Didn't really spoil our experience though.
