Whe have moved to Prth from Melbourne 5 months ago and since then didn'n have Yum Cha. I researched internet and found Foo Gwai (which got bad and good reviews). So we went check it out today.

The restaurant was half empty and it still took 10 mins waiting to be seated.

After that another 10+ minutes to get our drinks ordered.

The we finaly ordered our food as its not traditional Yum Cha where you can pick from the troleys.

BBQ Pork Buns - better average

Prawn dumplings - overcooked so the wrapper was sticky and was breaking as you touched it.

Shanghai Dumplings - average (had better one)

Spicy Octopus - overcooked in old/burned oil, very oily and tasteless.

Sticky Rice - Suppose to be steamed in Lotus leave but arrived in rice bowl???

Deep Fried Custard Buns - asked if they can do it, they said "sure" but to my surprise they deep fried it in same oil as our octopus and it also tasted like it. :o(

Chinese Brocoli - we ordered it, waited, waited and 15 mins later been told in VERY unfriendly manner that its been sold out.

Coconut puding - never arrived.

Service - there was no service.

This all may sound very harsh but sadly, its all true.

I managed Melbournes Oriental Tea House (serves Yum Cha) and I was really dissappointed that Perth Yum Cha places don't come NOWHERE close to Melbourne or Sydney quality of food aservice. We can all just hope that Mr. David Zhou will open one of his Oriental Tea House franchises in Perth one day.

If anybody knows good Yum Cha, let me know. :o)   (Martin77 - December, 2008)

Great dim sum. Will be back again!   (Tinkerbell - See my reviews (10) - November, 2008)

Overall 6.5 - Food 8, Ambience 6, Value 8, Service 4

Food is the standard dim sum fare, but was well cooked and very tasty. All food was hot and arrived promptly. Service was a bit lacking, especially since they were not busy. I highly recommend the chinese brocolli with oyster sauce and the pork and prawn dumplings. Will return.   (Tinkerbell - See my reviews (10) - October, 2008)

Restaurant response - Thank you for the feedback, I will definitely improve our service quality and hopefully you will see our improvement on your next visit

Overall 8.5 - Food 9, Ambience 8, Value 9, Service 8

Great location, great food, always a queue on the weekends for dim sum lunch, but able to book a table which is good - but must turn up on time or lose your booking.   (Frank - See my reviews (3) - October, 2008)

Overall 5 - Food 7, Ambience 4, Value 5, Service 4

The yum cha is pretty good and well priced. Service for a la carte is ordinary. Food a bit westernised and not really that authentic. Good location and plenty of parking behind.   (The King - October, 2008)

Restaurant response - Thank you for the feedback, we are currently working on new food items and I will definitely improve our service quality and hopefully you will see our improvement and our food will give you different taste on your next visit

did not enjoy the experience at all.. We were there on time and when we were shown to our table we requested to change table since it was just next to the kitchen and very noisy and we noticed that there were other tables available.. The waiter consulted a lady who i presumed to be the head waitress. She responded in a very unfriendly manner with an affirmative NO.. The food took a long time to arrive, and we have to keep reminding the waiter. Personally i find this unacceptable considering the fact that there were not many patrons at the time when we were dining..

Will not dine there again..   (July, 2008)

Restaurant response - I am sorry about the bad experince you had at our restaurant eventhough my reply is very late and you have made the comment, I do appreciate for your feedback and I am giving staff new training, hopefully will give you different sight of our restaurant if you and your family visit again. Thank you very much   (October, 2008)
