We acknowledge his involvement by naming our bar after his Red Lion We have kept the feel of his Hotel, the open fire, the bare board floor and those acid etched doors in the corner of the bar, which was supposedly designed to assist in the rapid ejection of unruly patrons - of course we have no need of them today Imagine the topics of conversation since those days, the invention of electricity, refrigeration, telephones, automobiles, aeroplanes, radio, television The chances of every Melbourne Cup Winner, every game of Australian Rules Football, every Ashes Match Celebrations for "striking it rich "at the Gold diggings, for the birth of a son or daughter, for the wedding, for the christening, for a life now over WE HAVE LOTS OF REASONS TO ENJOY A PINT

      Dined here on Saturday night and loved it. The bistro was very busy, the food was great, the service was good and walking into the old pub is like stepping back in time. Loved the open fire. We will be back again   (Wokstar - May, 2011)

      Recently revisited hotel after previously good experiences. Service has deteriated bread served with soy sauce instead of balsamic, replacement bread turned up after meal was finished. New management, new chef, reduced menu. Will take a lot of good references to get us back   (holden54 - January, 2011)

      i recently enjoyed dinner with my family at the keilor hotel , the service was awesome , the food delightful , i certainly will return ,   (j brown - October, 2010)

      was an average meal the service was below average they ran out of ingredients in a meal we ordered and didn't inform us that this was the case we brought it to the waiters attention he said he would see what had happened failed to get back to us regarding this. overall was a poor experience.   (annoyed - August, 2010)

      Service was really disappointing seeing we had a large group of about 20.

      Being a family function it was difficult them not allowing us to split the bill/pay separately as people with kids etc don't always have credit cards at their avail. Some had to leave and go to an ATM for cash.

      Probably wouldn't go back again.   (July, 2008)

      Could alter the menu more often, meals are tasteful, type of salad provided needs to be look at, not appealing.   (Nifty - February, 2008)
