Good food, is quite expensive for ballarat area. Would go more often if a little cheaper. Menu hadn't changed since we went last time. Also not many vegie options. The food was lovely and fresh and the service was great. Went to the restaurant for a business appointment and found it to be a fantastic place to take clients. It is a shame the lake is so low.   (December, 2007)

Great place, unfortunately the staff do not seem to know of "Menulog". Most surprising. I am most impressed with Menulog   (November, 2007)

I have had both lunch and dinner here. Lunch time was quite busy but the service was good. The cob loaf is a nice starter to share with different butters. The selection of wine by the glass is quite good too. I feel that the battered fish is the best I have had in Ballarat. Gill's venue is quite open and bright with great views over the lake. Of an evening the lighting is quite subtle with lots of fairy lights - quite romatic. Occasionally they have a degustation evening, I have attended one and found it superb!   (September, 2007)

Dinner menu was good but not extensive. Lovely location and very nice al fresco area over lake wendouree. Service was friendly and efficient. Food not cooked to an outstanding quality but still nice.   (Chantelle - See my reviews (23) - August, 2007)

Went there for breakfast. Menu lacking compared to other restaurants that offer breakfast meals. Meal was well prepared and presented. Served quickly and efficiently. Lovely views of Lake Wendouree, even without water in it.   (Jane - See my reviews (6) - August, 2007)
