Come and see for yourself why Giovanni was the ONLY chef from all of the Parramatta region to be invited to demonstrate his culinary skills at "The Festival of the Olive" which was held at Elizabeth Farm on Oct 20-21, and why Giovanni's Trattoria is fast becoming one of the most popular restaurants in Parramatta.

At Giovanni's we offer a fantastic range of authentic, traditional Italian foods including mouth-watering pizzas, home-made pasta dishes, main courses and an assortment of Italian desserts, all at the best price in town. Seafood platters are also available on request.

All dishes are prepared by Giovanni himself, a Rome International School trained master chef. Giovanni has cooked for the likes of Bruce Willis, Demi Moore and Sylvester Stallone. His home-style recipes have been handed down through generations and remain a closely guarded secret.

Chef

Giovanni Castrignano - Giovanni Castrignano, 38, graduated as a master chef from the Rome International Chef School (Otranto campus) in 1989. He has since has owned and managed a number of restaurants both locally and overseas. He has cooked in Naples (Lazia Teresa), Rome (La Loggia), Costa Rica (Pagajo Hotel), Newark (Red Lobster) and Miami, Florida (Belford Hotel) where he was “Chef to the Stars” cooking for the likes of Bruce Willis, Demi Moore and Sylvester Stallone to name just a few.
He arrived in Australia in 1998 and has owned and operated restaurants in Leichhardt (Il Due Amici), Petersham (Il Pallone), Sefton (Giovanni’s Restaurant) and most recently in Parramatta (Giovanni’s Trattoria).
Giovanni’s food is of authentic, traditional Italian style, all prepared with a passion and utilizing only the freshest of ingredients. He has been cooking recipes passed down from his grandfather since he was 14 years of age, one of those being his traditional tomato-based Napoli sauce which is cooked slowly for eight hours, the recipe of which remains close to his heart.
Amongst his favourite recipes he includes his signature Prawn dishes (Garlic, Italian and Chilli).

Restaurant response - We sincerely apologise if there was some confusion with corkage. Our policy is to charge corkage for BYO wine only, and certainly not for children that bring their own water. The unfriendly waitress in question was at our restaurant on a trial basis only and is no longer with us. As an act of good faith we would like to offer you and your family a discount of 25% off your next bill if you could find it within yourself to give us another try (just ask for Giovanni and mention this review).   (December, 2008)

We arrived early. 4 people at one other table. No greeting, seating etc. Tried to tell them we had booked. no interest - told take a seat anywhere. After over 10 mins of being completely ignored - no drinks service, menus etc - we left and went to another restaurant.

They obviously have a 'could not care less' attitude and this probably will show through everything else e.g. food quality, cooking standards etc.   (Josh - See my reviews (3) - November, 2008)

Had dinner there on the weekend -the place is too crowded -not enough room. It took 10minutes to get water and drinks to the table! Starter pizza came out at ok timing but then the bruschetta also ordered came out 15-20mins later. It was SO embarrasing as i chose the place for a group of 5+. The meals were so amateur and the experience was just disgraceful. Never again.   (Not happy jan - October, 2008)
