Went to the Goldfish Chinese Restauraunt on 12/3/13 . Read a few good reviews and a few poor reviews from different sources. Well it wasn't very busy due mainly to some poor reviews ? We can only say that the service and the food were excellent the pricing was reasonable and we had a great time all-round . 10/10 for us   (March, 2013)

Goldfish is one of the best in Melbourne and compares well to Bourke St finery in the Chinese restaurant service and food standards. Service is excellent and you do not have to wait for food or good service. Very reasonable in pricing as well as I took my mum out for her birthday and with Drinks for 4 people it was under $250.00 - excellent value.   (Goldfish excellent dining - November, 2010)

My husband & I dined at Goldish last night. I can honestly say it was one of the best Chinese meals I have had.

The staff were absolutely brilliant, they recommended dishes, knew their menus, were passionate about the food and most importantly made sure our drinks were always full! With the entertainment voucher it was extremely well priced. $82 for 3 courses for two people including drinks!   (Malice - March, 2010)

Dined at Goldfish on Saturday Night. And to say we were extremely disappointed after reading the reviews. ......It took 20 mins to take our order and the food was overpriced to what you actually get. The service was bad as it took for ever to get our food and even our drinks. Will not go there again.   (Superb Chinese - See my reviews (2) - May, 2009)

Living in the same suburb it is so perfect to have food and service as close to Chinatown but without the same cost as the high price restaurants. Ken and his staff treat you like royalty and the food and service is always impeccable. We continue to return, time and time again. It would probably be our 30th or so visit. Love it.   (Awesome Everything - December, 2008)

We have eaten at this restaurant around 6 times now, and I have to say that we are addicted. It is always the first place we think of as an option whenever we decide to go out for dinner. Even though we have moved well out of the area now, we still make the journey. The food is excellent, the service is excellent and the prices are reasonable.   (Nicole and Peter - See my reviews (4) - January, 2008)

Had high expectations after reading reviews. Sorely disappointed though. We went last night. After being seated, we were not given menus or asked if we wanted a drink. We waited 15mins before asking someone for a menu. We ordered the drinks but they took another 15 mins. No-one came to take our order, we had to wave someone down. Orders were placed and the entree I had, the spicy quail, was sensational I must admit. The mains came over an hour later and I ordered the honey pepper steak, chefs speciality, and again, it was lovely, however it did not come with vegetables as all chinese meals I have ever had do. As I was still waiting for the drink I ordered 20 minutes ago, I did not have faith that vegies would come out quickly if I ordered them. The steak pieces were large and I could not eat them unless I sliced them up, and requested a knife and was brough a spoon and fork. The rice is exceedingly expensive at $8.00 for a small, which we ordered and only fill 2 of the small rice bowls you get on the table, and for a large it was $11.00. We did not stay for dessert. All in all, the food was good, but when you go, make sure you ask what the dish comes with ie vegetables etc, and might be a better idea to BYO as your drinks take forever to come out. Very disappointed.   (Disappointed - December, 2007)

I've eaten there twice recently. The service is the best. The food is Chinese "Haut Cuisine" and the presentation of it is pure artistry. The premises are well furnished and spotless, but the large rectangular room with floor to ceiling glass on two side makes for a noisy environment. That won't stop me going back!   (Potblak - July, 2007)

A quiter night this time but as per usual of this fine establishment a beautiful meal - Mongolian Lamb, Plain Rice, Chicken/Corn Soup and Gold Fish Ice Cream - enjoyed with partner and parents in law. Highly recommend anyone try this restaurant as this type of service is not overly common in Melbourne.   (Andrew Taylor - See my reviews (4) - July, 2007)
