Dreadful and expensive food, arrogant manager and rude waiting staff. Please avoid this place if you want an enjoyable dining experience. It's not surprising that it was almost empty when we went there. Not recommended at all.   (john - May, 2010)

SUPERB!!!!! I can't rate this restaurant highly enough. What a

great experience - everything is homemade and freshly cooked

and for the price the quality of food that you get the whole

meal is excellent value for money - a lot cheaper than a night

out at the pub for example in a lot nicer environment. The restaurant also buys locally where it can, so you are supporting

the local community and reducing food miles as well. I had the homemade gravalax to start with followed by local black mussel inguini. My girlfriend had the homemade dips followed by the

herb crusted lamb rack - everything was perfectly cooked and

tasted divine. The DESSERTS are TO DIE FOR!!!!! You must

try the italian meringue with ice cream and the chocolate

teardrop filled with Bailey's mousse & praline ice cream -

heaven on a plate!!! Needless to say we can't wait to go back.

YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS!!!! AMAZING!!!!

You really do have to go here if you want a really good meal that's great value for money - both our meals totally exceeded our expectations - we'd heard the place was good, but were surprised at the quality, presentation and sheer value for money. The new menus are excellent - something on there for everyone and the restaurant was so modern and clean - something I'd expect in Melbourne. A MUST VISIT IF YOU ARE DOING THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD!!!!! Excellent!!! We went there for Valentine's Night and had the best time. We ordered an amazing seafood platter for two which had local crayfish on it & loads of other gorgeous seafood which was beautifully cooked. 10 out of 10!!!!! What a wonderful restaurant. My family and I had the best meal we've ever had. Apollo Bay must be really proud to have such a great place serving up such good local seafood and delicious steaks. The local wines and beer were excellent too. We found the overall dining experience fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and prompt. After ordering our mains, before we could even blink an eyelid they had been served on our table. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was one that will not be forgotten. We will definitely be recommending dining at Great Ocean Road Deli for anyone that is looking to head down to Apollo Bay.   (January, 2010)

The best food experience I've had along the Great Ocean Road. My "build your own breakfast" was amazing - I could choose what I wanted and it was all perfectly cooked. The coffee was by far the best along the coast and the restaurant itself was so clean and modern. The staff really made me feel welcome and looked after me - can't wait to go back on Friday night for dinner.   (Robbie - September, 2008)

I have eaten in this establishment several times and have not yet been disappointed. The service is good and courteous, the ambience fine, most dishes are very good value for money and some are exceptional - the most recent being a truly delicious Porterhouse steak accompanied by a superb Newton's Ridge Pinot Noir. Exceptionally poor experience. The place is overpriced for the quality but far worse is the service. The head waiter seems to have no training in customer service and a kind of ignorant small town attitude. After being given the wrong order we were informed rudely that we had to pay for it anyway. The rudeness and aggressiveness of the waiter and incompetence of the manager in dealing with the situation is not what you expect even in a small town. Guess they think they can get away with it since many people just pass through the town. We had to walk out in the end. Not recommended.   (March, 2008)

We visited Apollo Bay with my family for the past 13 years for our summer holidays. We have always been apprehensive on eating out in Apollo Bay with our family all together but our view has now completely changed. We received our best ever hospitality experience and ate here over our holidays on most days either breakfast, lunch or dinner. Each time we were always surprised at the level of service, the quality of the food and also the value. On Sunday breakfast in a packed out restaurant the busy manager even provided colouring pencils and paper for our children! Apollo Bay has a lot of catching up to do with this new place and would set new standards across the region as a whole! Think the review below may have confused this place with one of the other cafes/restaurants in the town!!   (dirk - See my reviews (3) - January, 2008)

my experience, i would rate your customer service as nonexistience. you need to improve the time taken to cook a simple toasted sandwich, not good enough! 55 minutes, no apology other customers served later than me received their cooked food 20 minutes earlier?   (November, 2007)

I have eaten at every restaurant in Apollo bay for the past 10 years with my family and up until now I have had my favourite. Since the Great Ocean Road Deli opened up I had no other option. We gave it a go and it is our new favourite, it caters for my kids and the manager (young fellow) even offered coloring pens to my little boy, as he was getting bored and tired.... FANTASTIC!!!! The food was fresh and great value. The staff was all so relaxed and easy going so we all felt comfortable and un pressured. Keep doing what you are STAFF of the Deli, great job...It now is in my opinion to be the best restaurant in Apollo Bay by far.   (peter - June, 2007)

This place not only has some of the best food we have had travelling over Australia for near on 9 months now but also the best service we have ever received!!!!

We had local crayfish and an aged eye fillet steak, WOW!!!

It was so good we came back in the morning before moving onto the 12 Apostles and had the best ever brekky too!

We are hoping to come back through Apollo Bay on our return to Melbourne from Adelaide and we cant wait to try them again.   (Excellent - April, 2007)
