It was a humble beginning. Gurkhas Brasserie is one of the first Nepalese restaurants in Melbourne. When Gurkhas Brasserie first opened in 1995 at the famous Chapel Street in Melbourne, it had one main purpose: to serve an authentic taste of Himalayan kingdom of Nepal to Australian public.

"Service was good, but the food wasn't. I made the mistake of taking a large group there and felt embarrassed that I suggested the restaurant. Curry puffs were dry and tasted like they'd been defrosted. Momo's were dry. Goat curry had good flavours but again the meat was dry. I wouldn't bother going back here, and certainly wouldn't recommend it."
"Having not been to a Napalese Restaurant before we were impressed with Gurkas.
We had a banquet for two which included a very tasty vegetarian entree, Goat Curry, Chilli Chicken rice/salad and chickpeas and potato as of which were good.
We loved the food - the place - the service was swift but not rushed - we will definitely go back on our next visit to Melbourne." more reviews
