There is only one “Hart” of the Rocks and this pub will pound to a new beat from February 2010. Harts is now under the new management of Rocks Brewing Company, who aim to maintain the heritage listed history of this quaint pub. However the muscle of Harts will pump new blood through its veins and taps being the only pub in the area to offer 12 Australian craft beers from both of its bars to thirsty patrons in the pursuit of something special. Harts Pub will charm beer lovers with the way it marries the flavourful characters of the local area’s yesteryears with that of traditional craft beers, unveiling the story of beer evolution from the early settlement of the Rocks.
Originally a private residence that survived the 1900 demolition from bubonic plague, the last 30 years saw Harts operated as a pub. Today, throughout the downstairs rooms, one will be captured in a history lesson of the local area which Harts has partnered with the Sydney Foreshore Authority to maintain the Heritage and accurate history of the buildings.
Following the history lesson, heading upstairs, it is all about beer. Whilst you enjoy your appropriately beer-matched meal, with a heaven sent pint of ale, scan the walls for quotes from famous lovers of the golden, amber or dark liquid including Winston Churchill, Benjamin Franklin and even Plato! Likewise you can catch your favourite international sports on one of the many plasma televisions.
Of course no Sydney pub is complete without a beer garden, and Harts will not disappoint. It is surrounded by beautiful sandstone and from time to time the presence of celebrity chefs teaching Sydney’s blokes how to get the most from their backyard burners, of course with the obligatory beer in hand.
