  Tragically a Melburne icon has hit rock bottom tarnishing a noble past.

  Main cours inedible. Partners meal barely passable. Should have returned my meal to kitchen.

  Food was great (my dish came out a little cold but there were no complaints from the other 7 people at the table) and it definitely wasn’t enough for me to mention anything to the staff. Atmosphere was amazing. It was a little hot in the restaurant though and we had been seated at a table at the back of the restaurant near the toilets – which did smell a little when we first arrived. We went for my birthday on a Saturday night and had so much fun. Staff were polite and attentive and the German floor show had us all laughing, clapping and singing!   Maybe my expectations were to high because I am german, but my main meal (Kassler) was not very filling, too much sauerkraut, just one dumpling which didnt taste of anything. Also in general I found the menu a bit over expensive, especially the tiny deserts.   (December, 2007)

  I know it might be a bit harsh for a rating but, that's how it was. I'm not a big fan of Ham. We basically ate salty Ham, the menu was mentionning Smoked Ham, I should have asked. I though it was missing a spice or something but maybe it's like that in Germany, I don't know German cuisine that well. The Saukraute was the best on the other hand. Beer was fantastic. Ambiance was nice, the band was not too loud, we could hear ourselves speaking. As for the value/money, well, I though it was a bit expensive for what you were getting. The service was A1, everyone smiling and a lightning service! I don't think I would go again but it's not because of the staff for sure!   (Luc - See my reviews (7) - August, 2007)

  The food was absolutely divine - the pork shank is highly recommended! The schnitzels are lovely, too. The service is a bit slow, but all the while, the staff is quite friendly. And great live entertainment! Would love to go again.   (maiko - See my reviews (9) - June, 2007)
