A return visit after 15 years was a big disappointment. Steaks dry, gristly and just warm, chips just warm, and dry salad thrown on the plate. Mocktail flat and without garnishes - "Oh we're out of pineapple" was the lame excuse after the difference in the drink to the photo on the menu was queried. However - the coffees were great. I have been with my family twice to Hog's Breath Cafe over the past year and we have found the staff excellent. On both occasions it has been very busy, however, the service was still great. I was quite shocked when reading the reviews posted... OK, its not a "fine dining" experience, but we all thought the steaks were cooked extremely well, the desserts delicious and although it was very loud in there, the family still had a good time.   (April, 2010)

AVOID!

Started with the salt & pepper calamari - tough, rubbery, stringy, greasy and flavourless. I actually choked on it twice, literaly had to pull it back up my throat. The silly paper cup makes it nearly impossible to cut into smaller pieces. Then had the Barramundi Buger - a little better but dressed with the smallest dollop of tartre sauce and served on a stale bread roll. Maybe could have got it down but no-one would get us another drink. Waitresses walked past us many times and didn't even glance at our table. Finally my dining partner managed to get the attention of one and 10 minutes later we got a drink. The service was bad - while order was taken quickly, mains were brought to the table before entrees had been cleared, getting a drink was near impossible and we sat for quite some time after finishing with our mains and no-one approached us or cleared our table. Complained when leaving and was given 25% off mains, but insincere apology and argumentative attidude ("I'm sorry, but I didn't do it" and "I'm sorry you feel that way, but I can't change it") has ensured we will never return and will tell everyone we know not to waste their money eating there.   (Clover - March, 2010)

If you stick to the ribs or lamb shank you'll do pretty well here but if you're going for the much hyped steaks or service you're in for a bit of a let down.

all in all a good place for a few mates to go for a few drinks (save everyone a hassle and just order over the bar)but i wouldn't take a young lady there on a date, that's for sure.   (Hog's Breath - See my reviews (3) - November, 2008)
