      The food here is reasonable but the service is abominable. A waiter came to take our orders only very shortly after the last of our group had sat down at the table. We ordered some bread to start but then needed some time to consider mains. When the waiter came back again we told him we needed a little more time to decide, to which he responded with a huff and rolling his eyes before storming off. He then didn't come back for over 20 minutes to take our order and one of our group had to go over to ask that he take our orders. Whilst taking our orders he was very rude and was snatching menus away very brusquely after each order was taken.

      Our meals then took a very long time to arrive so it was over an hour and a half between our arrival and mains arriving at our table. Staff were unapologetic.

      The restaurant section is not sufficiently separated from the main bar so it is very loud and noisy and the wait time to buy drinks on a Saturday night is very long.   (Jacqueline - August, 2012)

      Waited an hour and a half (on a Wednesday night) to be served some average, overpriced food. At least 2 tables arriving after us were served first. Rude manager completely uninterested in apologising or offering any form of discount for the wait. A truly unpleasant evening. Won't be back.   (goodline - See my reviews (2) - May, 2012)

      I love this hotel and I think that it is the best in Newcastle. I am from Sydney and we were very suprised by the food, service and ambiance of the hotel. We felt that we were dining in Sydney. Great experience and would not go anywhere else in Newcastle. The Del is definitely in a league of its own.   (Francis Gratin - April, 2011)

      After paying a fair bit for a medium rare steak it came out well done, sent it back and came back well done again. No sooner had we eaten the last bite (I left mine) we were informed we had to move out of the restaurant into the bar as they wanted to clear all the restaurant tables.       This is the best food at a pub in Newcastle, we eat out twice a week and try different places, but this is the outstanding.
