The restaurant was dirty, seats were stained, portions were small and quite expensive for the quality. Very disappointed in the lack of food quality after hearing about Jamils-they have also had issues with cleanliness in the past in their previous restaurants so I was very wary. It has not seemed to change with this restaurant.   (legaloz - See my reviews (2) - March, 2010)

Amazing and I would highly reccommend, especially for a lunch so you can take in the beautiful views. Jamil and his staff took good care of us, the food was divine and the setting by the beach was beautiful. We will definitely be returning soon! I've been before and loved and raved about this restaurant, but on my recent visit - jan 09 - I was so disappointed as the restaurant has obviously changed management. The menu was the same but the chef had no where near the skill sets of earlier. The restaurant looked dirty, the upholstery was grimy, as were the tables. The new owners have taken any elements of class out of the experience, with the installation of a big screen TV in what was the more elegant dining hall area. And substituted the fabric napkins with paper serviettes, and not even bothered to change the lightbulbs, as at least 1/3 of the light fittings were blown. Such a shame, everything was grubby from the food to the decor.   (greenway 2009 - January, 2009)

Our lunch experience was unfortunately marred by very slow and unprofessional service. The wait staff lacked training and restaurant experience. Food was good, but overall dining experience poor.   (Vicki - September, 2008)

I have been to Jamils twice in 2008, and loved it. Once for lunch and then for dinner. Lunch is the better option as the tiered seating with the view to the beach is magic - I love watching the theatre that is Manly. The food is magnificent and I am working my way through the menu. The pianist though does need some volume control - but that is all I have to complain about. All in all it is an elegant evening out!   (greenway - August, 2008)

Unlike the last review I thought that jamil's has got it right. Nowhere else in manly offers a place that has style, entertainment and no drunken teenagers. We sat on the far side of the restaurant, away from the piano, and had no trouble having a conversation, except when the food was delivered as we were too busy devouring it! Service was, as usual, excellent and we will definitely be back.   (staorama - June, 2008)

The management really need to decide what they are trying to be - is it restaurant or wine bar? The piano and singer was so loud that you could not have a decent conversation with the people across the other side of the table. It was very frustrating. Service was average and adhoc. The food was enjoyable however.   (May, 2008)

Top quality food very well presented. Staff were friendly and appropriately attentive. The courses were served with reasonable breaks in between. Wine list extensive but some wines over priced.   (See my reviews (3) - May, 2008)

Fantastic meal with great service & even better decor. A bit expensive but still worth it - great atmosphere & good mix of cocktail drinkers at the bar & diners at the tables. Awesome cocktails!   (millie - March, 2008)

Just fabulous! We had the oysters and scallop tasting plate for entree - so excellent and fresh. For mains we had the eye fillet and wagu beef and it was the best we had ever had. We enjoyed 3 cocktails each and the atmosphere was just great. The staff were so friendly and professional. We will definately come back. The price isnt cheap, but this isnt somewhere you would go to each week.   (candy71 - March, 2008)

I just love the atmosphere of Jamil's. Friday night is a great night for a drink and some food. Get on down there for sunday afternoon's live band and have a wonderfull time. Great cocktail list and the foods just wonderous. Dont forget to ask the barmen "Where's Flur?"   (March, 2008)

the atmosphere and location was very good. The band was also very good. I was expecting a bit more from the food, it did not quite live up to the atmosphere and location of the place.   (March, 2008)

I attended the opening of Jamil's. To a background of live music, girating belly dancers circled the room while cheeful staff indulged the guests with sumptious mini duck pies and wagu beef mini burgers washed down with cocktails delicately flavoured with Lychee liqueur, a personal favourite, from the hands of experienced barman, Stewart. Jamil's warmth and energy will ensure the success of this new dining experience.   (Bronwyn Pullinger - February, 2008)

We were lucky to get a table late on a Friday night. We were seated at 8:30pm but did not recieve our main course til 9:45pm. When the meal arrived - we were agitated and tired - however the meal was absolutely delicious! This quickly lifted our mood. I had the Salmon and I can say it was one of the best in Sydney - beautiful. Despite the lengthy delay, we would definitely go back again.   (Jimel - February, 2008)

I came to your lovely restaurant for my 27th birthday dinner with my family. Every single family member ordered a different meal and everyone said their meals were delicious (all six of us!!) I will definitely be dining with you again!   (November, 2007)

Hi we enjoyed our evening. The food and service was great. I just wanted to let management know that the the female toilets were dirty. In addition the hand paper towels were all over the floor; possibly because of the angle of the hand dryer and the paper dispenser. Other than that we enjoyed our evening and look forward to visiting again.

      Kind regards
