It seems that actually cooked by Japanese cooks (I'm Japanese). Good quality food and reasonable price. Would recommend to friends who are after actual Japanese cuisine. (Ken - August, 2008) One of the best true Japanese suburban restaurants with a real Japanese kitchen and sushi chef (unlike 95% of Melbourne's "Japanese" restaurants and cafes). Serving Kansai-style moderated for Western taste and our training on Kando-style Japanese food tastes. Everything is up to standard but try something less common such as the Japanese-style oysters or the box-sushi with Gurnard, or ask for the Japanese-only special menu and have them explain. From that for example the "natto maguro" (fermented soy beans and raw tuna which you mix together) or "buri kama" grilled salted yellow-tail head (actually the neck and collar with the most succulent flesh) or natto maki (fermented soybean "sushi" roll). Nothing here will disappoint you. Ask for things to be served as ready, save rice dishes until later in the meal and follow the Japanese manner of ordering rice only when you are neat full (signalling the end of your order) and then with miso soup if you have room. Highly recommended. Walter J Adamson (Walter J Adamson - See my reviews (11) - May, 2008) |
