Mum and I decided to take my sister out for a birthday lunch. When you set foot in the door, you take a step back in time. Old fashioned and quality value, we were impressed by this beautiful place and wonderful service. The food was delicious, you could tell it was cooked on the premises and not just warmed up like most restaurants. Ruby and Jack are two very special people, offering a wonderfully old fashioned dinning experience. They even let me use their internet to find a local Westpac bank. Thank you for an enjoyable day, great food and exceptional service. xo Pauline,Sue and Ange   (Ange - August, 2012)

Always a winner! Have been for dinner numerous times, occasional lunches with various friends and family as well as having a pre wedding high tea for overseas family and friends. Guests are always very impressed with the quality of the food and service and the friendly efficiency of the staff and it is always interesting to see what new collectibles have been added to the decor too. Looking forward to the next visit.   (StaceyH - October, 2011)

if you drive past this place frequently as i did it is well worth the visit as i have wriitten previously.great to have something of this calibre locally and not having to contend with the noise and people at fountain gate for a night out i would urge people who live in narre/berwick/cranbourne/hap park etc to support local restaurants like this .   (ed murray - See my reviews (4) - August, 2011)

Took my entire team down for a work dinner with partners and we had a fabulous night. We were greeted as soon as we entered , The atmosphere was lovely and homely making you feel very comfortable and able to relax and have a laugh. The food was excellent and everyone of us had different menu items and everyone loved their meal, I feel this is a testiment to a great restaurant.   (Rebecca - March, 2011)

I had a work function at Kilgerron and found that everything was fantastic. The food was like a good home cooked meal, the waitress that served us was wonderfull how she kept up with the 10 of us and with a smile. Didn't wait long at all for the meal . Will defanently go back.   (Rebecca - March, 2011)

Unfortunately we were very dissappointed. We were seated and given water but were not again approached to have drinks ordered for at least 20 minutes. Then we were given plates for entres' when we hadn't even ordered our meals as yet. I noticed that they had a sign for staff as we left. I think we could have been informed that they were short staffed in the beginning so that we new the problem. Unfortunately we will not be back and I won't be giving any good recommendations.   (October, 2010)

food was nice, mains may be a little high in price for the area. Had to wait for a while to be seated, only one staff member in site, serving the drinks and tables as well.

They kept wanting to take our wine glasses even when we said we will order wine. But all in all OK   (October, 2010)

      Had the roast beef

beef was over cooked roast potatoes could have been crispier gravy very average

my wife had the turkey would have been nice if it was a fresh bird

it is a place were you would expect better but as usual restaurant like this don't seem to care about flavors and customers so i will have to continue to travel to the city to find good food   (CHRIS - July, 2010)

Excellent feed with a good choice of menu. Most usually available beers and wine. Our friends were equally satisfied which made us proud to be locals. We were there for over three hours and enjoyed every minute. Congratulations Jack, Ruby and staff, a very memorable night. We will be back soon.

I enjoyed a lovely meal at Kilgerron, however we waited for more than 40 mins for our main meal. Some light background music would add to the ambience of the restaurant. Thank you!   (May, 2010)

Absolutely Awful. Not suited to those under the age of 60. I cook better meals on a weeknight, meal size abysmally small, entree was a taste plate was seriously like leftovers from a kids bithday party - 2 fake calamari, 2 supermarket mini spring rolls, a party sausage roll, three meatballs with toothpick in them and 1 prawn for $16!!!! Same boiled vegies with all meals. All meals where so ridiculously overpriced, the best thing was the wine which i had to drink a lot of! Wouldnt pay 10 bucks for a meal there. Avoid avoid avoid! Only went there frrom the rave reviews on this site, must have been reviews from family and friends talking the place up.   (Valerie - May, 2010)
