Awesome choice for a group dinner especially if you're looking for something different to the usual: Thai/Italian/Local Pub Grub etc.

I booked this place based on the reviews and it didn't disappoint! The food was great: tasty and truly European. Good portion size; albeit a lot more expensive than the average. The wine list is extensive and I love, love, LOVED the Vampire Merlot (lol)!

The atmosphere was cosy and authentic. Our waitress was an import just like the beer ;) She was lovely, on the ball and not overly attentive/annoying (perfect for a group gathering).

I know that for many people it's all about food, which is decent on La Boheme, I'll give 'em that. However there are plenty of places with decent food out there, as competition is fierce and nice restaurants are popping out on every corner these days.

What is important to me is ability to spend a night in a nice welcoming relaxed atmosphere, which La Boheme has regrettably failed to provide.

I'll let you be the judge:

Basically we booked a table for 4, arrived first with my g/f, were taken to our table, started waiting for our friends. They arrived in about 10 mins. Then we ordered food, waited about 20 mins, finally started dinner. In 30 minutes sharp the waitress told us to leave because they have double-booked that table with someone else.

We were NOT told in advance that we are able to book a table only for 1 hour, we were rushed through the whole eating experience, and our evening was spoiled.

If you want a fast-food restaurant - you know where to go. If you want a nice evening with your friends, eating nice food and feeling welcome - go somewhere else.   (G - November, 2008)

Great venue, interesting and tasty food and good wine list. Pity then that service let them down, with a waitress (whilst attentive enough), not being able to speak understand English clearly. I appreciate it is a Czech Restaurant but we are in Australia after all, and this resulted in one dish not being as ordered, as well as being charged for mineral water we did not order at all. Staff then proceeded to argue with us, which was not the best way to finish what was otherwise a great meal. I had the last laugh as I received a $30 Entertainment Card discount which was not actually available on my card.   (October, 2008)

Best GLUTEN-FREE (GF) dining experience I've had in a long time. The staff were very knowledgeable with which foods contain gluten. They even had GF complimentary bread!

The Golden Roasted Duck (now with 1/2 duck option - more than satisfying a big eater like myself) was delicious - moist enough to not miss the gravy (unfortunately not GF). The Vitae Sangiovese 2005, a delightful red wine from Tuscany was a perfect accompaniment. My friend ordered the Traditional Bavarian Feast Platter for one (a very hearty meal and could not fit it all in!), enjoying their white wine but wanting the Sangiovese once they tasted mine!

They also have a beautiful courtyard - I am already making plans to eat there again.   (Owen Gray - October, 2008)

Had Golden Duck.Meal OK.Nothing extraodinary.Had to ask for steak knive to carve off hard to get pieces of duck.
