    The name La Boheme has several meanings including life in Bohemia (the main part of the Czech Republic). La Boheme brings the best of Central Europe’s traditional “home-style” foods such as Crispy Pork Knuckle from Germany, Golden Roasted Duck with sauerkraut and potato dumplings from the Czech Republic and Belgium Beer Mussels.

    We aim to create a relaxed environment for our guests where they can spend time discovering other cultures by sampling from our wide variety of dishes, beers and wines. The restaurant is warm and welcoming decorated with restored furnishings creating a feeling of history and longevity while remaining sophisticated and free of clutter.

    BYO available Monday to Thursday wine only after 6 PM.

      I was invited there 2 Fridays ago for a group gathering. We ordered 3 plates garlic prawns for entre. I was told before I went there that the prawns were hugh and 4 pcs. in a plate.

      But when the entre came there only 3 tiny prawns in the plate and prawns stinks!!

      We waited about 40 mins for the mains which was crsipy skin pork knuckle and Bavarian mix platter. Guess what ! the skin of the pork knuckle was not crispy but hard and chewy!! The meat was dry , very dry . . .The pork belly on themix platter was even harder and dry . . Very disappointing!!!

      The only dish that was really nice that nite was the Vanilla ice cream with warm raspberry. And the waitress who served us was superb. She really make our nite . . .   (Bonaventure - October, 2010)

      The atmosphere, service, food and cost were all great. The pork knuckle was a fantastic choice - a good sized portion and cooked to perfection.   (Luke - See my reviews (2) - September, 2009)

    Ondrej Schwarz - The chef’s / owners are Czech and have worked in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and of course here in Australia (opened Prague Czech Beer Restaurant). This breadth of experience means that they can bring the best of many European cuisines to Balmain. Their passion for cooking comes from the Czech tradition of home cooking as well as their culinary education.

    Final numbers must be provided 24 hours prior to the reservation. Changes or Cancellation must be given 24 hours prior set date and time by calling La Boheme Restaurant or in writing by either fax (02) 9810 0829 or via email reservation@laboheme.net.au.

    All Changes within 24 hours prior to function could attract extra fee.

    Change of dates of reservation does not attract any fee. 10% surcharge applies on public holidays.

    Beverages are charged on consumption unless specified otherwise. Pre ordering of wine is recommended to guarantee sufficient stock is available.

    Charge of $ 3.00 per person applies if own wine is brought in.

    Charge of $ 2.00 per person applies if own cake is brought in.

    La Boheme Restaurant & Cafe accepts cash, EFTPOS, Visa, MasterCard and AMEX payments. All payments are to be finalised on the date of the function.

    Responsible service of alcohol – clients are asked to be responsible and assist with ensuring the orderly behaviour of their guests while dining at La Boheme. Management reserves the right to refuse entry and enforce related RSA and licensing practices. Guests are asked to consider our neighbours and keep noise to a minimum whilst outside, and on leaving the premises.
