      Do not go here if you're wanting a romantic experience! I thought being on the balcony would be romantic and it was until two parties of 10 were seated not far away and we almost had to shout to each other. Good attentive service even if the table number wasn't really used until we had to pay the bill, we nearly got served a few things which were for tables nearby and the table next to us got served food for a different table, one waiter just walked around until someone put their hand up.   (December, 2010)

      we dined saturday night 7.00pm arrived on time just so happened there was 2 bookings in same name ours of 10 theirs of 4 they were sat at wrong table staff very quickly sorted out table arrangements we sat down waitress straight away took drink order one guest was late we hung back ordering until he arrived nothing was a problem service was excellent, food was great,value for money,nice family place to eat,extensive drink menu, members of our group were very impressed wil certainly return at another time in the near future   (peter - November, 2010)

      Everyone enjoyed the evening. Great food and service. Only complaint is that we had a voucher for 25% off food only but person in charge only gave us $25 back. Food & drinks bill was $494.80 of which mostly was food. Too late in the night to question, realized later. Other than that everyone (12 people) enjoyed the night.   (October, 2010)

      We had four entrees and four mains, entrees were good, however 2 mains were not delivered, they had been forgotten. One complimentary glass of wine was offered to one person who was waiting, not the other though. The rib eye steak cost $40.00 and was terrible. Full of fat, overcooked. I have had much better $13.00 steaks at the local pub. They were lucky we paid for anything. Avoid if you can, not worth the risk.   (jennifer - See my reviews (6) - October, 2010)

      Restaurant response - Hi Jennifer. Sorry to hear about your bad experience at La Camera. Not sure what happened on the night, but it does not sound like we stuck to our normal service systems.If something goes wrong we always try and make it up to the customer and it did not happen on this night. In relation to the steaks it sounds like we overcooked it and we would normally give you another one or take it off the bill if you are limited with time. We are happy to give you a $50 voucher so you give us another try.

      Totally enjoyed the experience, the food came hot and fast and the service was excellent. The night we were there it was packed and we were a little late arriving but there was no problem and we made the theatre on time. Will definitely go back again the next time we are in Melbourne.   (September, 2010)

      we found the food was excellent. the service was a bit too push just as we sat down we had 3 waiters come on us with in the first few minutes, but than no one came any where near us to the point we had to wave some one over. on the whole it was a good experience and we will come again.   (July, 2010)

      This was my second time at La Camera South Gate. As per the first time, it was excellent!! No complaints at all. The wait staff were delightful and attentive, even though it was a busy night and they were run off their feet. The food was magnificent.       I eat at La Camera on a regular basis and have always found the management, staff and food excedllent.

      Great value for money, love the special $10 lunches........ great choices and lovely wine.

      Have been going there for six years for the Mon-Fri breakfast on a regular basis. Its $7.50 for a huge breakfast and really nice. We love the Vege Breakfast.

      On the whole we had a lovely dinner at La Camera - the food is excellent (highly recommend the duck risotto - yum). It was a great place for a work team dinner, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The staff were very helpful when an incorrect meal was delivered to one of our party, and they provided a replacement meal in 10 minutes. At times when ordering food and drinks there were a few moments where orders had to be repeated two or three times until the wait staff understood what we were ordering, but once the orders were taken, the service was really quick. We had one vegetarian in our group, and whilst there wasn't a huge choice of dishes for him, he did enjoy the garlic pizza entree a lot.
