My boyfriend and I were in Canberra for the weekend. Came here for dinner on Friday night hoping to have a nice dinner but greatly disappointed to the point that my boyfriend said he had never seen me this agitated before. The place was extremely noisy to the point that we had to raise our voices across a very wide table. The tables were not adequately spaced out... Trying to max out the space, I think. What's worse is that it took 1 hour for the food to be served, and it's just a simple pasta and risotto! Not at all good if you're hungry and it's 9pm! The tables beside us were also disappointed... we just exchanged knowing looks! The food is quite ordinary to demand such a price! If they know that it'll be busy on Friday night, they should have got more chefs. They can't compensate prompt service and quality food... as those are the two biggest reasons why people go to a restaurant. I will definitely not come back!   (Amy - October, 2009)

This is my second visit to La Rustica and on both occasions (one evening, one lunch) it has been extremely noisy to the point where we had to raise our voices to be heard.

The food is great, but the service very slow on arrival - no drinks offered until meal order taken.   (C - See my reviews (2) - September, 2009)

We are from Newcastle, when we are visiting Canberra we always eat HERE!!! never found service, waiters, or anything else in the place substandard. I wish it was in the Newcastle area like Hamilton as they would make a fortune. Every time we have dined there we have had to book so that in itself says it all!! The service rating is poor because we had to wait for 45 minutes to be asked whether or not we were being looked after. In fact we were the ones that asked a waiter for some attention. There were 7 people in our party and two entres (one salad and one pasta) were ordered and served in 15 minutes. We waited a further 45 minutes for our main courses, after which we had to persuade another waiter to enquire about the status of our order. We were informed soon after, somewhat impolitely, that we had ordered entres and were put on the back list and our order would take at least another 15 minutes. That may not have been a problem except that the waiters were not at all apologetic, in fact, were rather agressive in their responses. Our meals eventually arrived, (two hours after entering the restaurant) and largely speaking were very good. In view of the poor service I will not recommend La Rustica to any of my associates or friends.   (lawrie - May, 2008)

Food was excellent. Despite the fact that the restaurant was totally booked, meals were served in good time. Four of us dined, all ordering different dishes and both pizza and pasta were first rate. The restaurant has great aesthetic appeal but this is spoilt because the tables are very close together and with so many diners, it was very noisy! Would definitely return though, but perhaps not on a Friday night!   (April, 2008)

La Rustica has the best pizza i have ever had anywhere in the world!!! Tony the pizza chef is so great at what he does! The ambience,service and food are fantastic and i am certainly going back to see the the bar staff!   (Joe - November, 2007)

The food was magnificent. Glad I picked La Rustica to dine after a hectic day. The atmosphere was bright and cosy, and made our night very enjoyable. I would certainly eat there again next time I'm in Canberra. Special mention to our waitress Mia... great service.   (Melb Tourist - May, 2007)
