My cousins and I went to dinner at 'The Light House' for the first time on Sunday.

We were wanting to test the service and the food, as we were considering hiring a function room there.

The service was fantastic right from the beginning. Really friendly and approachable, yet not over the top.

We were served by 'Wayne' who answered all our questions promptly, the food was really impressive, and very tasty.

We had the three course set menu - each getting different items to try. Great value at $39. (And deliciosly catered for one of us who is a vegetarian)

Wayne took us on a tour of the function rooms, and what they can offer, also gave us the function menu and allowed us to change as we saw fit.

The service was so welcoming and friendly, we are definietly holding our event there, and will be back to dine there in the future.

Only constructive feedback is that from downstairs the restaurant appeared as if it was closed, probably an idea to do something to change that.

Very impressed!   (Therese - November, 2011)

Our first time to the Lighthouse and we will go back. We had the Seafood platter which was just beautiful and a reasonable price as well. It was a quite night but the staff where happy and helpful and made us feel right at home. We did think that the night entry could be made more inviting. Better lighting would do.   (Pam - August, 2011)

Only a few diners on a Sunday night so very quiet except for some leakage from the Roxy's disco across the street. We had a good night.   (Tern - See my reviews (2) - February, 2011)

It was quite when we went on a sunday night,it was enjoyable but nothing to rave on about. The ambience was killed off by the very loud bass coming from Roxy's across the road.   (April, 2010)

    • Overall 8.3 - Food 8, Ambience 8, Value 8, Service 9

We a group of 11 ladies orderd the $39.00 set menu. The food was just enough, not over the top and we did not walk out of there hungry either. The food was great and staff friendly and funny they also met our dietary requirements which was even more pleasing. Will definitely go back. On the last note the bathrooms need an upgrade and was not very clean. But overall I would give the restaurant 8/10   (April, 2010)

Thought it odd to enter through the closed day shop, but the restaurant entry was easily accessible. Service was good with a waitress who was friendly.   (November, 2009)

Our experience of this restaurant could not be bettered. The food, service and atmosphere of the restaurant were all absolutely first rate. I was also mildly surprised with the price, which as far more reasonable than one would ordinarily expect. I could not be happier with the entire experience and would recommend the Lighthouse to anyone fancing a celebratory dinner or just a fine dining experience.   (April, 2009)

This is the second time we have been and both times the food was just perfect and the service excellent im sure i will go back there again.   (See my reviews (3) - March, 2009)

The food was great, however the service was very poor, it took an hour and a half to get a cocktail drink, and the same time to get ou main meal.

The waiter looking after us made the experience a lot better, his sense of humour had us and the next table laughing our heads off.   (February, 2009)

      Sunday 28.12.08

I know you guys were pressed on Sunday. It was a busy time. My friend and I ordered the Calamari and chips. We had a couple of Heinekin as well. We both thought that the Calamari was under cooked, rubber tough and sliced too thick. We couldn't eat it all. Mind you that was also the result of the ample portions that you serve. No complaint there. I have eaten at your cafe before and have enjoyed the food and friendly service. Whilst talking to some other patrons on the day I mentioned the Calamari and all agreed that it was underdone. One even mention that he was ill from the chips on a previous visit. I put that one in the odd basket. You get great reviews and awards. Hope you find this feedback helpful. John   (Lighthouse flickr - December, 2008)

We came in a group of 19 for a farewell dinner and were very impressed. They placed us in a function room with fresh flowers on the table and the set menu was reasonably priced for $40 for 3 courses. Entree and mains were excellent, my dessert was a little too large though. Wine was sensational. Would highly recommend to others   (Jay - August, 2008)

The staff was excellent and the food very tasty. The meals were of a reasonable size. The venue is a little stark, but all in all it was a good night out.   (See my reviews (3) - July, 2008)

It was a monday night, a quite night for restaurants. We were a bit disappointed with this restaurant. It took 2 1/2 to serve 3 course fixed price and a la carte dinner. There were only 12 customers including 4 in our family, not arriving at the same time. The owner chef, his wife and a waitress were on that night. It shouldn't take that long for the food to be served. The food price was moderate and reasonable but not all the dishes we had were nice. For entree, the scallops in half shell were overcooked, smell fishy. They must have been frozen for more than a year. The colour and taste of the sauce/jus of 3 mains of meat were quite similar eventhough the description on the menu was different. The meat of the smoked duck breast was tasteless, no duck taste and without any smoked flavour. Desserts were the worse: Sticky date pudding tasted like christmas plum pudding and was very very sweet. Sara lee's pudding taste a lot better. No chocolate taste in the white chocolate panna cotta, could taste milk, sugar and cornflour, and was too firm, couldn't taste any mango in the mango anglaise. Creme brulee was too runny and the sugar wasn't caramalised just before served. Choux paste of the profiteroles was out of date. Those from French Kitchen in Castle Hill are a lot better. The waitress was very friendly but was unable to attend our table efficiently, who only had 4 tables (12 guests) to look after. I don't recommand for a family to go for a dinner especially when taken out by a chef on his day off and would like something nice. It is more suitable for a group of friends to spend more than couple hours to chat and drink, not really mind about the food quality.   (January, 2008)

It was a Monday night, a quite night for restaurants. 4 in our family went there for dinner, not for a special occasion, just want something good. Very disappointed with this restaurant. Ambience was good, menu price was reasonable, not looking into food standard at this stage. There were 4 tables of 12 customers, not arriving at the same time. The food service was very slow. It took 2 1/2 hours for a 3 course fix price and a la carte dinner. There was the owner chef, his wife and a waitress working, the service shouldn't take that long. Not all the dishes were that nice. Scallops in the shells (entree) were overcooked and smell fishy. They must be more than one year in the freezer. Jus or sauce from 3 meat dishes tasted quite similar although description on the menu were different. The creme brulee was too runny and the sugar on top was not caramalised right before serving. Sticky date pudding was too sweet when compare to other factory's product. The choux paste of the profiteroles tasted out of date. Those frozen profiteroles from The French Kitchen in Castle Hills taste a lot better. I wouldn't recommand this restaurant if you are looking for some good food for a family dinner, especially for a chef who doesn't like to cook at home like me on his day off.   (January, 2008)

We enjoyed the night, loved the music and dancing, drinks were a bit expensive, salad had chilli in it which was unexpected. As my husband has had radiotherapy his mouth is very sensitive he didn't realise there would be chilli in that type of salad, might be safer not to add it!   (December, 2007)

Woeful all round. We made a booking, they couldn't find it. Romantic dinner for two and they seat us right in front of the speaker for the pitiful excuse for music. Our waitress should have been serving at a Texan diner - talk about rough. The menu there was different to the one on this website. I'm glad we didn't pay more than $4 for the garlic bread, because it was dry and tasteless. Then the steak I ordered "medium-well" came out cremated (and I'd like to know who their butcher is so I can give him a wide berth, too). Although the menu promised my steak would come with polenta, there was none, and the "reduction" was burnt (I suppose it was to go with the steak). Our celebratory dinner was nothing short of a disaster. My partner had oysters and the lobster - which I'm told were nice but nothing extrordinary. To be quite honest, the best thing about the night, other than the company I held, was the wine. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant in a pink fit, and we certainly will not be returning.   (PO'd - December, 2007)

I was impressed with the whole dining experience but I would like to point out that the chips were of very poor quality compared to the remainder of the food ordered. We expected something classier than chips similar to Kentucky Fried Chicken chips.   (November, 2007)

Was very happy with the meal, everything was above average. The oysters were very fresh and the main course steak I had was excellent quality. Flambe dessert was a treat for the eyes. Yes, would return   (Bill C - March, 2007)
