Formerly The Naked Nut Restaurant, Linga Longa International Restaurant has had a complete refurbishment and is now under the very capable hands of seasoned restaurateur, Elie Sopas. "Linga Longa will be love at first bite!" says Elie of his International themed menu restaurant.

The menu is a refreshing mixture of International dishes that reflect Elie's life history which is Australian, Greek, South African and European/ American dishes, and there is something to suit everyone. With the help of his hand-picked staff, this restaurant was, and will continue to be a local's favourite restaurant where you can get excellent food and service, something Elie believes he can bring to the table. A qualified chef of over 30 years experience, but a new resident of Cairns, Elie decided that to really get to know the local’s, he will welcome his guests personally where able, and is very “hands on” in his approach to delivering quality, well presented food in a timely and friendly manner right to the customer’s table.

This restaurant is designed to be loved by the locals. Tourists are also welcome ... to come and share in this Cairns dining experience too. BYO wine to enjoy with your meal if you wish, or select a drink from the well serviced bar.

On 15 August 2011, Linga Longa won the award for best new restaurant in Far North Queensland at the Savour Australia "Restaurant and Catering" Awards for Excellence 2011. This accolade came after the restaurant won the "Best New Business" category at the Westpac Far North Queensland Business Awards for Excellence In June 2011 as well.

Life is an experience one needs to enjoy to the full while food is not a mere commodity but a way of life. It is in this spirit that Linga Longa goes to endless lengths to source only the finest & freshest ingredients and produce, ensuring that each meal that leaves the kitchen exceeds your expectations and brings out the gourmet in you. So... if you’re one that believes that there is more to life than just a pinch of salt and wishes to savour the flavours of truly superior home cuisine then.....

Welcome to the Linga Longa experience!

Tonight we discovered the new restaurant Linga Longa, soon to become a Cairns Favourite !

We shared Sour Dough Bread with roasted Garlic as a starter... the roasted garlic gave a light nuttiness for the topping on the bread. I could easily have eaten more, but we'd ordered our mains.

The wine list is not too long, but there is a good range of Sparkings, Whites and Reds and the beers list is on the reverse side and was a good collection as well.. The wine list reflects that someone has gone to the trouble of matching the wines to the menu. We chose a Twin Islands Marlborough Savie, but there were good selections of reds we could have chosen that would probably have gone with what we ordered for our mains but, we love Marlborough Sauv Blanc, so the choice was a given.

      Mains:-

Stephen had the Rib Fillet Madagascar which comes with a whiskey pepper-corn sauce. The sauce just tied the whole dish together and the meat just melted in the mouth, it was so tender.

I had the Duck A' La Orange. This was without doubt the Best Duck Dish I have ever had. If you Love Duck, you have definitely come to the right place. The Cointreau and Orange sauce was just divine, and the duck was perfectly cooked.

We decided to have desert, to try out the menu properly. I had the Italian Donuts with a raspberry coulis and vanilla ice-cream, and Stephen had the Lime Curd Tart,

The Donuts came as four little ones and the Lime Curd Tart came as two small tarts with a little cream and a sprig of fresh mint. We shared the desserts, because quite frankly we couldn't decide which one to have, so we chose both. There was a Chocolate Fondant on offer as well, but felt it was a bit too decadent after the Duck.

The owner treated us to a port glass of Domain Chocotello which has a bit of a tawny port feel, very nice and completed our meal very well..

The Staff are attentive and friendly and know the menu and wine list/beers they are selling and can speak knowledgeably about their products. The Care Factor definitely lives at Linga Longa, and it is obvious that everyone that works at this Restaurant has a genuine love of the place, enjoy their job, and have a clear aim that their guests (not customers) leave with the best dining experience they can give.

      Bon Appetito

I've been here three times and have had excellent meals and service every time. I had the steak one night, fish and my most recent meal for lunch was pan fried chicken with brie and cramberry sauce with salad, mm yum! Everything was great but I will definitely go back for the steak medalions. My wife had the fish, the duck and chicken ceasar salad and she says the chicken ceasar was the best she's had. The waiters are attentive and the food comes out in a timely manner, looking, smelling and tasting fantastic. I almost forgot that we also tried the Greek Feast last Sunday with a group of friends and that was also really good! So we've been four times and haven't had a bad experience yet - that's a first for me in Cairns.   (loveatingout - March, 2011)
