The owners and staff were knowledgeable and both attentive and unobtrusive, and perceptive enough to read the patrons, making me feel like a regular. I had the Scallop and Truffle mousse thing and a slow baked Patagonian Toothfish dish. Both were exceptional. The birthday lunch was fantastic as was the tour of the garden, the Scallop mousse thing [again] and the whole experience. Did I mention the Scallop and Truffle mousse??!! Our lunch experience at Lochiel House was its usual high value. The service was really attentive and of high quality, while the food was simply excellent. The Goats Cheese souffle is to die for, and we have never had a better souffle anywhere. I could recommend this restaurant to any one wishing for a dining experience par excellence. My partner & I got to the restaurant at 7.30 waited 10mins until we were asked if we wanted drinks. We waited 1 hour for our dinner to be served, I had the special of the day which was Smoked Salmon on a bed of potatoes , which in fact turned out to look very much like a small chat cut into 4 slices which a "pinch" of rocket, then the salmon itself with 5 beans on topand alittle garnish on top of the beans. My mean was only just warm. My parnter had Drunken Rabbit with bits of bacon in a wine sauce and I think 2 small baby carrots and two beans. Again his was luke warm. Dessert was nice, Hazelnut Slice with Choc Truffle Ice-Cream surrounded with small baby plums. Very nice. The waiter/s were pleasant and left you alone. Okay if you want a quite place to eat, though if you are like us and get stuck with a very loud person seated behind you who "sahred" his whole life experience" didn't make for the quite romantic night we were hoping for. Probably wouldn't go again. Food very average and nothing to talk home about. Very pricey for barely warm food. Menu was very very limited and was disappointed with that. As my booking was a special occasion for elderly folk the service and attention given to my visually impaired aunt and ' high expectations' mum was excellent. The meals were extra special and the waitress gave valued advice and guided the whole dining experience to a most impressionable end complete with candle on dessert.
