Max's Austrian, Swiss and French influenced cuisine, with classics such as Prawns Florentine, Chateaubriand and his signature Toffee Strawberries are mainstays of a menu spanning three decades.

      Now under new management with fresh ideas but still retaining some of Max's influence. Fantastic day for a birthday celebration - private dining area was cosy with big open fires, country & vineyard views.We were all so impressed – the room was great, very intimate, the food superb and the service excellent.

      The very fact that everyone was still there at 6.00pm suggests the afternoon was a huge success.

      We will all be going back!   (April, 2013)

      We loved the idea of being able to taste their own wine before deciding which wine to have.

      We did notice that one of the local wines (Ashton Road sparkling shiraz) was $75 per bottle and you can get it for $40 at their winery 15 mins drive away - as we had just come from there and purchased a case of it.

      The chef came out about mid way through our main and made sure we were happy with our meals - added a personal touch to our day.

      If you don't just want to eat, but want the full "FOOD EXPERIENCE", then Maximilian's is the place for you. Food - exquisite! Service - Impeccable! Wine list - Varied and exceptional! Max, the owner, is a charismatic and perfect host. The serves are large, the atmosphere warm and welcoming and the scenery is serene. Been there many times and have NEVER been disappointed!   (Yum!-Raw prawn and prawn brains! - See my reviews (3) - August, 2009)

      Stunning location, fantastic service, jaw dropping wine list (Never seen so much Burgundy on a list in Australia) this is an absolute must for anyone who loves the very best.   (September, 2008)

      Worth the drive, idyllic location and good food. Wine list exceptional. You risk staying too long if with good friends and part of a group thet like their wine, and if Max (owner/chef) comes out to play and the toffee strawberries start to go round make sure you stay well clear of the schnapps. The food and atmosphere are special, and while the price tag is up there for Adelaide, it is not over the top. An experience worth the effort.   (Andrew - See my reviews (10) - March, 2008)

      A relaxing meal in front of an open fireplace. Food was rustic French with Australian influences. Be prepared to pay a little more than you should. But if atmosphere is vital, as well as a good wine list, give this place a visit.   (Great Atmoshere, Overpriced. - May, 2007)

    Group booking policy Deposit

    Confirmation of your booking is to be made within 10 days of your original reservation accompanied by a $30 per guest deposit. Any tentative bookings will automatically lapse after the ten-day period.

    For your convenience, payment of your deposit by credit card is accepted over the phone.

    Final Numbers

    We require confirmation of exact numbers 48 hours prior to your event. This will also be the minimum number of meals for which you will be charged, regardless of a reduced number of guests at your actual event. Your deposit will be deducted from your account based on your confirmed numbers.

    A cancellation fee may be incurred at the discretion of Management.

    Price Adjustments

    All prices quoted are current at the time of printing and are subject to alteration without notice. Prices are fixed once the deposit has been received.
