"We have dined here several times before and have always loved the food, service and wine list. We had lunch on Saturday for my mother's birthday and again we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We had a banquet which was a taste sensation. The service was excellent. We have never been disappointed. Cannot recommend highly enough!"
"Definitely one of the best Chinese experiences in Tasmania. Unfortunately Tas is a little lacking in good Chinese restaurants, but I was fairly impressed. Much more authentic than most others." more reviews

The best roast duck in the world! And I mean it. One of the best restaurants in Aus for sure and not too many any where that can compete. (morph - September, 2008) Overall 7.8 - Food 8, Ambience 7, Value 7, Service 9
Great service and good food, excellent wine list. (February, 2008) Overall 6.8 - Food 9, Ambience 9, Value 7, Service 2
What a wonderful dining experience let down by some of the sloppiest service i have seen. We (8 people) were seated at 7.15 and ordered out Entree's and Mains at 7.45. At 9.15 and after asking twice , our entree's arrived. The food was beautifully presented and the taste was superb. At 10.20 our main courses started to arrive. Some members of my party had completed their mains before other received theirs (all up it took over 30 minutes between the first main being placed on the table and the last one). Once again, the food was devine. Around 8.00 we started counting the wait staff that assisted our table. All up we had 9 different staff members serve us from 8.00 pm. Now the food was spot on and it certainly gives the resturant its reputation for fine dining. But the service was, to be honest, not good. We complained and they agreed, and reduced our bill by 20%. I enjoyed the food immensily but the service would make me wary of ever going to Me Wah again. Maybe take-aways next time. But for a dining in Chinese experience, i would rate Flourishing Court, in Macquarie Street, Hobart well and truly the better restuarant. Me Wah may be Tasmanian Restuarant of the Year, but they didnt impress me. (Ricki Kean - December, 2007) Overall 9.3 - Food 10, Ambience 8, Value 9, Service 10
Me Wah, what a gem! Easily the best Chinese food we've had in Tasmania, and as we live in Hobart we're thrilled at the rumour that they're opening up down south. Food was absolutely beautiful, service was quiet and charming, wine list was impressive, and overall dining experience was near-perfect. An eclectic mix of diners on the night we went, and all seemed to be very happy. Thank you, Me Wah, for being the highlight of our weekend in Launceston! (CJ - See my reviews (51) - June, 2007) |
