The food is fresh, seasonal, and mouth-wateringly tempting. Hailing from the Mornington Peninsula, chef Simon West is no stranger to winery restaurants, nor cool climate wines. His focus is on the freshness and quality of his ingredients, which means that using seasonal produce is a priority, necessitating almost daily changes in the à la carte menu. Mostly French provincial in inspiration, Simon's food is very wine-friendly, and with all our wines available by the glass, our staff can recommend fabulous food and wine combinations for you.

"Have tried before to have lunch by dropping in a year or two ago in but to no avail and the gentleman who greeted us then was a little rude. But dropped in yesterday and greeted by another man and what a lovely man, thank goodness you changed front of house man. Meal fantastic, wine fantastic, absolutely amazing setting outside on the terrace and lovely wonderful gentleman at the front of house.."

"We chose this restaurant for a Sunday lunch and it was lovely - beautiful scenery over the vineyard and of course, this wine accompanies the meal. Be aware though that the main courses are quite small and the entrees evern smaller, so you may need to order several dishes to share like a big tapas meal. Have tried before to have lunch by dropping in a year or two ago in but to no avail and the gentleman who greeted us then was a little rude. But dropped in yesterday and greeted by another man and what a lovely man, thank goodness you changed front of house man. Meal fantastic, wine fantastic, absolutely amazing setting outside on the terrace and lovely wonderful gentleman at the front of house to greet us and as we were a little early for lunch let us have a coffee while we were waiting for lunch to start. gorgeous building, atmosphere, food and wine. love being able to taste in cellar door, then decide what to drink with meals (s). menu concept is good and suits a lazy afternoon.

the warmth for such a cold day was lovely, all table wear is impecable, and the staff recommendations honest. without the head chef the lunch was still superb, as it should be.

and taking a late booking 30 mins before we turned up, we were very appreciative. (goose - See my reviews (4) - August, 2008)

Loved the idea of a tapas/yum cha style menu. Had a chance to enjoy more dishes and different flavours with the wines. Great place great service!!! (See my reviews (2) - December, 2007)

Lunch menu prices unfortunately take this restaurant off our list for a daytrip out of town - but this doesn't stop them filling the room every day. We were disappointed that tourists just dropping in weren't catered for with lower-cost menu options. But yes, the food is beautiful and the setting is gorgeous. Meadowbank also offers (and delivers) magnificent wedding receptions. (CJ - See my reviews (51) - February, 2007)
