Family went here recently for breakfast buffet. Breakfasted here years ago and there seems to be less variety of food this time round. Service excellent. Location and views perfect. Love it.

Had breakfast in the Melba restuarant following a balloon ride, could not fault anything, fantastic way to end a flight.

The only 5 star value is the waiter service. Plates removed promptly & constant water top ups etc. The downside is many dishes are cooked on the spot by chefs so you must wait for everything. In our opinion they over-seat the restaurant Saturday evenings and you will wait up to 20 minutes in queues for each dish. You are then told you have limited time until service closes. You feel as if you can really only try 1 or 2 dishes as its not worth standing in queues for everything you want to eat! So we would suggest going only mid-week when its cheaper and less crowded. It's not worth $90 per head by any means. Book VERY FAR in advance if you want window seat. We booked 10 days ahead and were seated behind a pillar at the back of the restaurant, and at $90 per head we felt the ambience would have been much nicer in a pub bistro !! Don't get excited by the dessert buffet - looks are deceiving. Prawns, Oysters and Tandoor dishes were the best. Overall summary - don't go on a weekend night unless you can be bothered standing in lengthy queues.   (Sussan - June, 2010)

Very pleasant atmosphere, and an enjoyable variety of food makes dining at Melba Restaurant a worthwhile place to dine....that's why we keep going back.   (June, 2009)

Fantastic venue and five star sevice the food was of good quality but very overpriced on the weekends for the buffet dinner.

Breakfast was the same good food but very overpriced   (Darren - See my reviews (3) - January, 2009)

Had very very disappointing X-mas day buffet at Melbas . Firstly we paid $200 per head(there were 7 of us) which did not even include a glass of soft drink let alone a glass of champange on arrival. The food was average....so average , I hate that feeling of being ripped off.We had travelled interstate espically for this experience , they did not even give us a bon bon to crack open ! infact there was no Ambience , even Santa looked bored! Overpriced and Over rated!   (melbas - December, 2008)

The Melba was the best dining experience we have had. The staff were friendly and welcoming making you feel like part of the family. We are returning this weekend.   (August, 2008)

We went back again and they have a sushi station now! They have a chef making sushi to order! I also have fantastic risotto!! Yum!! We went to the 8.30 dinner on a Saturday night but went to the bar earlier and had a great cocktail and there's a guitarist. Oh, I nearly forgot the desserts!!   (August, 2008)

Fantastic! A wonderful dinind experience. The service was impecable, polite, non-intrusive. The 8.30 sitting suited our night and we were not rushed out of the restaurant. We will certainly be visiting again and bringing others with us.   (June, 2008)

Excellent food and service. One chef was proactive in promoting its food, which is unsual for buffet. Highly recommended but one small thing, my family find that we feel extremely thirsty after the meal. Not sure if others feel the same..   (Annie - May, 2008)

Food and service is amazing. I love how you can ask chef's to make food for you. So much better than The conservatory!

I went with a group of friends and everyone found something they love, including my friend who can't eat meat or seafood. I also love their afternoon teas, they are the best!   (Nicky - May, 2008)

ENJOYED IT IMMENSELY, BUT I HAVE BEEN THERE A NUMBER OF TIMES OVER THE YEARS. BECAUSE WE WENT TO THE EARLY SITTING, YOU PROBABLY DON'T GET VALUE FOR MONEY, DUE TO THE TIME FACTOR. THANK YOU   (March, 2008)

Good food - much better than Crown's Conservatory. Here, they have much fresher food with better flavour - and not to mention the sumptious desserts! The things I liked most were the dim sums, calamari, and chicke tikka. Oh the breads directly out of the tandoor!

One annoying thing though, I got an email confirmation, and then a call from Melba's. Although it was a courtesy call - but I found it excessive, especially two confirmations on the same day.   (Joseph - See my reviews (4) - February, 2008)

The 8/10 is for the second time i've been. 2 down parts about my second-time expereince was that, the waiter incharge of the table of I was did not take our plates or filled our glasses until I called for them to do so. I don't think customers should have to tell waiters how to do their jobs. However, the food was great still. Although, my first expereince I'd give a 10/10, just cause there were more varieties of food selection and because the services was definately a lot better the first time.   (V - See my reviews (3) - January, 2008)

Dear Sir/Madam, we regret to say that our experiences on this occasion were not fantastic earlier in the year we attended your restaurant where we paid around $45.00 per head & on that occasion were more than happy with value for money food seemed a lot better, this time however prices higher food fairly ordinary as in quality Etc, hence we had told others of our great experiences earlier in the year but have now told them to go elsewhere, please explain how this could happen in such a short time! we will not rush back in a hurry not until things change a lot . I DO NOT EAT SEAFOOD SO IT WAS NICE THAT THERE WERE MANY OTHER DISHES AVAILABLE TO EAT. THE MAN THAT COOKED THE FRESH BREAD WHILE YOU WAIT WAS WONDERFUL - SO FULL OF CHARACTER. AND THE MINI DESSERTS WERE JUST GORGEOUS.   (Kylie - November, 2007)
