"Went to Midori for the first time last week as part of a large group. We had never eaten at a teppanyaki restaurant before and were really looking forward to it. However, the rudeness of the wait staff really let this place down. We were looking for some guidance as to what we should order, what was recommended, that sort of thing, but all our waitresses could do was grunt "read the menu". N.."
"We went to Midori for a birthday dinner. None of the party had been there before and loved Japanese food, and the idea of teppanyaki sounded like a fun idea. The chef put on a good show, but the quality of the food and the amount was very average. Overpriced and disappointing." more reviews

We booked through the phone and the person who answered didn't sound too friendly or keen to make our reservation. However, when we reached there, the staffs were very friendly. We ordered the Hana set which starts with a bowl of salad, then tempura, sashimi, miso soup, a small part of lobster, a choice of beef or chicken, a choice of prawn or scallops and either steamed or garlic rice. Lastly, we were served green tea ice cream. The lettuce in the salad wasn't very fresh but the others were okay. The sashimi was standard; the tempura was good. Lobster was average, the beef or chicken wasn't spectacular. The scallops, garlic rice and ice cream were not bad. The chef who served us did not give us a good show compared to other chefs who we saw gave a good performance and also did not introduce the sauces he poured to serve with our food. Overall, the food was below my expectations coming from someone who had teppanyaki all over the world but it was a good try for a city like Perth. Went there for a friends birthday not long ago, was excellent, the food was fresh and the entertainment and service provided by the staff was outstanding. Overall 4.3 - Food 5, Ambience 4, Value 4, Service 4
I have been to quite a few Japanese restaurants tepan yaki and have had a good time, but this one just didn't have it for me the food was ok, but not for the price i think the chef was not experienced enough! (July, 2008) Overall 7 - Food 9, Ambience 8, Value 3, Service 8
Make sure you bring cash, or someone in your group will have to foot the whole bill on their credit card. There is no separate billing, no regular EFTPOS, they don't accept cheques, and the nearest ATM isn't quite as handy as you might like. Great food, but you would expect that for the price!
