    MoVida chef & co-proprietor Frank Camorra. was born in Barcelona and spent his first five years in his parents' hometown of Córdoba in Andalusia, before his parents migrated to Australia.

    In the year 2000, Frank travelled throughout Spain and was inspired by both the modern and traditional aspects of Spanish cuisine he discovered.

    Returning to Australia, Frank was determined to share his inspiration. In fact, MoVida is named after the art and film movement that flourished after the death of the Fascist dictator, Colonel Franco. This exciting innovative era - full of exuberant energy celebrating fun & the Spanish character is also another source that MoVida draws on.

    So dining at MoVida you'll discover is relaxed and yet cheerfully determined to be both fun and creative. Where the evening's new dish was inspired by the produce and ingredients that came through the front door in the morning... This is the essence of the MoVida spirit.

      The ubiquitous Spanish garlic prawns dish, but with fino and broad beans! The prawns were fresh and cooked perfectly, the flavourful leftover sauce is again eagerly mopped up with what had to be our 5th refill of bread...

      I had heard about this place and was hanging to try it before the good food and wine guys got to it and I wouldn't be able to get a table for two months - this was not to be. Instead i bit the bullet and sat at the bar solo around 4pm on a Friday afternoon and ordered a drink. I just happened to get chatting to one of the chefs who had finished for the day. He oftered a hand through the menu ordering items he thought i would enjoy (not unlike tapas bars in Spain) and delighting my pallet with eash mouthful.       Had heard people talk about this place and expected something fantastic. Unfortunately we found it pretty average, and quite pricey for what we got, wouldn't rush back as there are lots of other tapas bars that have better food and better value.   (See my reviews (12) - January, 2009)

      We had never been to a tapas bar before and this was a perfect first experience. It was great getting lots of little dishes, as we could try a variety of delights. Fantastic food, very attentive staff. The chocolate pudding dessert was delicious.   (Di - See my reviews (52) - November, 2008)

      2009 chef of the year and 2 chef's hats - absolutely correct! Movida, locatd in a suitably gtitty and urban environment opposite Fed Square is an absolute delight. Even thought I hadn't booked, the waiter was able to find my partner and I a seat immediately and what followed was an absolute culinary delight.

      It is a tapas bar and not a fully flegdged restaurant, but the creativity, texture, taste and pure aesthetic of the dishes was inspiring. The ptapas ordered ranged from eel to scallops and from deboned baby quail to anchovy on croutons presented impeccably and tasting sensationally.       We now have Movida as a "must dine at when in Melbourne".

      The food is a true culinary adventure..different / fantastic..the staff very helpful and knowledgeable...The atmosphere and ambience ...well , you will want to tell your friends about it...Be sure to book a fair time ahead . Looking forward to our next visit soon ...Thank-you .. an excellent experience.

      Food, ambience and value for money were excellent. However the waiter made a mistake and delivered an extra main and we sent it back. His formerly friendly attitude changed immensely, however to his credit, he recovered very nicely. It was momentarily uncomfortable, but thankfully did not detract from the overall experience.       Wonderful food and atmosphere - I loved the swordfish wth chickpeas and mint. We drank a 2004 sangiovese/cabernet from Coonawarra that complimented our food well. Movida can feel a little rushed if you are there for the 6pm sitting as the next wave of enthuastic diners are coming in thick and fast. Booking with menulog was smooth and easy.       Great but it seems they have an early and late sitting - but forgot to tell else then tried to wrap our dinner up early or finish in the bar. Not on - so check that there are no time restrictions.

      We have been to Movida twice now. If we lived in Melbourne we'd go at least once a week. The place is marvellous, the service outstandingly friendly and the food is exquisite. The rabbit meatballs with squid WORK beautifully together, an inspired dish. Best pork crackling in my experience and the jamon, well, it's the absolute best. If you were planning a trip to Spain, just for the food, save your money and spend it at Movida!
